Meet Joy: Happy energetic sweetheart
Joy is exactly what her name promises - a bright, happy girl who brings enthusiasm and love everywhere she goes. This 8-month-old yellow Lab mix who might have some GSD has a beautiful, thick, wavy coat and a personality to match.
Joy came to AHeinz on transport from an Oklahoma shelter, escaping a dangerous winter freeze in an open shelter where care was limited. Now she's safe, warm, and ready to start the next chapter of her life.
At about 45 pounds, Joy is likely close to her adult size. She's an energetic young dog with a big heart and lots of affection to give. She absolutely adores people and is always thrilled to receive attention - sometimes a little too thrilled! Because she hasn't learned that not everyone loves jumping hugs, Joy would do best in a home without small children, where her enthusiasm won't accidentally knock anyone over.
Joy is:
-Very friendly with people and dogs
-Great with larger dogs who can match her energy
-Not a good fit for homes with cats or very small dogs
-In need of leash training and would benefit from continued basic training
-Not mouthy or barky and slept quietly through the night in a puppy pen
-Showed signs of house training though not sure yet how well
Joy has just arrived, so we're still getting to know her, but she already shows signs of being a loving, eager young dog who will thrive with structure, consistency, and an active home. With some guidance, she'll be an amazing companion for someone who enjoys training and watching a dog grow into her best self.
Joy is spayed and will be fully vaccinated prior to adoption.
If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion and don't mind a little joyful enthusiasm while she polishes her manners, Joy may be your perfect match. Updates will be shared as we learn more about this wonderful girl.
