Meet Winston Churchill!
Winston is a 1 1/2 year old mixed breed boy that is very energetic, LOVES to play with his toys, do the zoomies, and enjoy his people. He is still looking to find his forever home where he can be the king of the castle.
In his former home, Winston Churchill did become protective over his food, toys, space, and his people from other animals. Because of this he would need to be in a home without other animals (both cats and dogs) and without children. Because of this, he will require a fenced in yard for his safety. While he does not do well living in a home with other dogs, he still loves to play with others outside of his space and away from his toys and food. He also attended doggy daycare in his former home, which was perfect for working off his energy and to continue his socialization. Because he enjoyed it so much, we recommend continuing something such as doggy daycare to continue his socialization once in his future home.
Winston does still have protectiveness over toys and food with people, but he is learning a trick that we like to call "trade" to help. This trick means that if he has something we need to get away from him, we would trade it out for something he can have such as a safer toy or a treat that he likes, instead of just reaching to grab it from him. He has been through behavior/obedience training for his guarding/protectiveness, but they do feel this will continue into his later adulthood. Due to this, we will require an experienced dog owner for Winston and one that is committed to continued training and spending time advancing and practicing what he has already learned.
He is very smart because of his training, and knows lots of commands and hand signals! He loves to practice what he has learned and also loves learning new things too! He is also curious and super playful with new people and new things. He loves people and thinks everyone is a potential best friend.
Winston Churchill is a high energy guy and will absolutely love to find a home where they will exercise both his mind and his body!
