I'm O'Doyle, and although my wish for a home hasn't come true... I'm still waiting faithfully, my paw pressed to the glass.
I've been at the shelter for almost a year now. Before that, I survived the streets, sickness, and being all alone. When I arrived last February, I was hurting and afraid, with a painful abscess on my shoulder and a body that had been through far too much. That's also when I learned I'm FIV-positive and diabetic.
I know those words can make people hesitate. But please don't let them stop you from truly knowing me, because this is who I really am:
I'm gentle to my core. Every time my door opens, I hurry right over, lean in close, and press my head into waiting hands. Snuggles aren't optional for me; they're how I connect, how I feel safe, and how I say thank you for seeing me.
I'm on a special diet, and I receive one insulin shot a day-and I do wonderfully with it. What I long for most, though, isn't complicated care, but a human best friend who wants me as much as I want them.
I'm still here. My paw still lifts to the glass when people walk by... and my heart remains wide open, hoping someone special will finally stop and choose me.
