Chelsea came to us as a stray with a rather large belly. The first couple days she was here we weren't sure if she was friendly or not. But turns out she was the sweetest little girl, just very scared. It was determined that miss Chelsea was in fact pregnant. The shelter is no place for an already scared, nervous kitty yet alone one who is expecting however many babies. One of the employees decided to take Chels home to foster her while she gave birth and cared for the babies until they were old enough to come back and find homes. Chelsea gave birth a whole two weeks later and welcomed 7 babies. Unfortunately, just five days later she would lose one of those babies to unknown reasons. Chels pushed through and kept caring for the remaining six. And as always, kitten season was kicking the shelters butt and a singleton kitten was dropped off, and we thought we could see if Chels would accept it and nurse it. She did and later added two more to her crew when they were dropped off at the shelter a couple weeks later. Chels was a rockstar and cared for 9 babies the entire eight weeks until they weened off of her. She's a quiet little girl who just wants love. She's litter box trained flawlessly. She was never face to face with dogs in her foster home but with a proper introduction and easy going dogs, we think she would do just fine. She is cat friendly. She enjoys soft beds and LOVES lickable treats.
