JJ is a young adult girl, estimated to be about 1 - 2 years old, with a story that makes her extra special. JJ originally came to a local vet clinic as a stray with a severely broken rear foot and infection in the bones. X-rays also revealed that she was pregnant with three surprisingly large kittens. her situation was heartbreaking because her injury was so severe, the choices appeared to be amputation and a strictly indoor life or euthanasia. The person who found JJ could not take her home because her dog was not cat friendly, so euthanasia was being considered. While we were waiting to hear what would happen to her, JJ reacted out and licked a staff member. She was incredibly sweet despite everything she h ad been through and that person knew they couldn't let her go.
She was taken home and it was decided to give her foot some time before committing to amputation. During that time JJ gave birth to three kittens. She continued caring for the babies, walked on the injured foot and would even stand upon her back legs like a tiny meerkat. With time, antibiotics, careful monitoring and many X-rays, something amazing happened: JJ's foot healed completely. She was able to keep her leg, although she is expected to develop arthritis earlier in life because of the damage she suffered. JJ is a very loving, resilient girl who enjoys attention, cuddles and playtime. She has also shown that she has a huge heart when it comes to other kittens.
JJ does have some ongoing needs that her adopters should be prepared for. Because of her old injury, she is expected to develop arthritis earlier in life and will need arthritis medication when prescribed. She also has episodes of nausea and porro appetite. She recovered with anti-nausea medication and special food, but she can still occasionally vomit dry food. Her adopters will need to pay attention to her eating habits.
JJ isn't looking for someone who simply wants a cat. She's looking for someone who will appreciate everything she has overcome and give her patience, attention, medical care, playtime and cuddles.
JJ wouldn't mind being adopted with one of her, Tiny Tyke.
