Howdy! I'm Waffles, a sweet and lovable 13-year-old Chihuahua mix, and I'm looking for a cozy forever home where I can be your best little buddy. I came to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter in Texas, and after getting some much-needed medical care in my foster home, I'm all set to start the next chapter of my life!
I'm a tiny guy with a big heart, and once I warm up to you, I'll follow you everywhere-literally. I'm like your little shadow, always close by, and I love to snuggle in your lap for those perfect quiet moments. While I may need a bit of time to feel comfortable with new people, once I do, you can count on me to be your loyal companion for life.
I'm good at being left alone in the house (no crate needed!), and I get super excited when you come home-I'll be bouncing around with joy to see you! I get along with cats and other dogs, but because I'm a small and fragile senior, I'd prefer a calm home without young children.
I do have a condition called Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), but don't worry-it's manageable with the right care, and I take my meds in my food. I might give you a little yelp when I'm in pain, but it's nothing too serious! I need to be lifted gently, supporting my back, and steps to get on and off furniture (I'm too cute to jump!).
I'm potty trained and know basic commands like "come," "leave it," and "stay." I don't always respond right away, but I'm getting better! Walks are my jam-I love sniffing everything! I also enjoy sitting outside and soaking up the sunshine. Napping is another thing I excel at (after my morning walk and breakfast), and I love burrowing under the covers at night. Toys and treat puzzles are fun, and I'll happily let you know when I want belly rubs!
