At the Greenville Humane Society, we have witnessed countless dogs facing injuries and diseases that truly break our hearts. We've encountered congenital illnesses, broken bones, and medical conditions that require extensive care. As devoted advocates for these animals, we are committed to doing everything we can to help them.

When Renee came into our shelter, she stood out in a profound way. She suffers from a rare condition that presents a unique challenge for her and has not been seen in a long time.

Renee has Canine Compulsive Disorder, a mental health condition that makes each day feel daunting for her. Everyday occurrences, such as a moving shadow or a striking light, can trigger her symptoms-situations that are difficult to control in a shelter environment. Adding to her challenges, Renee is also deaf. While her disabilities may not be visible, she embodies the spirit of any other dog, with sweet eyes and a smile that can brighten a room. Our hope is that someone out there can connect with Renee and understand the feeling of isolation that comes from being unable to control your thoughts or reactions. We want everyone to see what we see in Renee: a loving, happy girl yearning for a stable and nurturing home.

For her to thrive, Renee will need daily medication for her mental health and, most importantly, compassion and understanding. Her symptoms can be hard to interpret, but we believe that in a loving foster home, she could find the support she needs to improve. Right now, her existence is filled with distressing patterns, like repetitive digging or running into obstacles that could harm her.

We recognize that this is a significant request, but our community has repeatedly shown remarkable kindness and willingness to open their hearts and homes to special needs dogs like Renee. We are urgently reaching out for someone to offer a safe and nurturing space for her. A predictable environment with plenty of supervised exercise, such as walks, would be ideal for her wellbeing.

If you feel moved to help Renee by fostering or adopting her, please reach out to us at Greenvillehumane@greenvillehumane.com. Your support could make all the difference in her life.
