Meet Nova, a resilient and loving cat who has overcome adversity to find her way into our hearts. Unfortunately, Nova's first guardian passed away a few years ago, subjecting her to circumstances where she experienced neglect and abuse. These experiences left her with anxiety and depression, but in the last ten months of foster care, she has made remarkable progress.
Nova, raised from a kitten as a single cat, craves the companionship of a devoted human. Initially clingy and wary of her environment, she now trusts her foster mom and enjoys spending her days independently. Whether napping on pillows in the home office, basking in a sunbeam by the back door, or lounging on the couch, Nova finds comfort in her surroundings while knowing you're near. Not only a great napper, she's also an avid birdwatcher, observing sparrows and pigeons pecking at birdseed on the verandah.
Despite her anxiety, Nova is relearning the joy of play. She now enjoys chasing springs, kicking and licking a catnip-filled banana, and batting at an interactive silicone wand. Wanting connection, when it's time to rest, she'll snuggle up for a nap on your chest or between your legs, and settles herself at the foot of the bed with a paw touching her person to sleep at night.
Nova has learned to coexist peacefully with the other four cats in her foster home. While she now patiently waits her turn for treats, she doesn't seek close interactions with them. Her ideal home would be one where she's the sole pet, and her guardian works from home. Although she can tolerate being alone, Nova thrives when her person is nearby.
As for children, it's uncertain how Nova would react, but she may have learned playful hand-biting from her first owner. With patience and understanding, she's working on unlearning this behavior.
Nova is about 2 kg overweight and eats a vet-prescribed metabolic kibble to help her safely shed the pounds. She is also taking medication to help ease her anxiety and better her mood which has greatly helped to allow her new experiences. She takes one capsule daily, but with the help of a bit of lickable-treat as "frosting", takes this every morning without any fuss.
If you're ready to provide Nova with a patient, safe, and loving forever home, she'll reward you with loyalty and affection. Apply to meet this special girl today! ????
