Ronan is a special-needs kitten looking for a special home.
Ronan arrived at the shelter at just six weeks old after an unknown traumatic injury that left him completely paralyzed in his hind end, along with a broken leg. He has regained some movement (he can swish his tail and kick his little legs) but he is unlikely to ever be able to stand or walk.
Because of his spinal injury, Ronan is incontinent and wears diapers. His neurologic function may continue to improve over time, but adopters should be prepared for the likelihood that he will be unable to stand and will have some degree of urinary and/or fecal incontinence. Caring for Ronan means regular diaper changes and keeping him clean and comfortable. It can be a little messy, but it is absolutely rewarding to care for such a precious little life.
The ideal home for Ronan would be with adopters who have cared for cats with a similar level of disability and are willing to learn about the specialized care he needs. He needs adopters who understand the commitment involved in caring for a disabled, incontinent cat. The most important thing is a willingness to learn, adapt, and provide the hands-on care he needs for the rest of his life.
That said, Ronan is so much more than his disability. He is a happy, playful kitten who absolutely loves everyone he meets. He likes to roughhouse with other cats, explore nooks and crannies, and falls asleep while being cradled like a baby. Ronan loves other cats, so feline siblings would be a bonus for him. He has so much love and personality to give, and we're looking for the person or family ready to give him the care he deserves.
