Meet Okami: A handsome, free-spirited Malamute who marches to the beat of his own paw drums! He's the kind of dog who's always up for an adventure, but is just as happy exploring the yard solo while you cheer him on from the porch. Okami is the strong, free-spirited type - the kind of guy who'll nod respectfully from across the room while you sip your coffee, but who won't necessarily beg for belly rubs or write you poetry. He's independent, self-sufficient, and knows how to entertain himself. Think less "velcro dog," more "cool roommate who goes on epic nature walks alone." Despite his independent streak, he's very friendly with people and did well with older kids in his previous home. But Okami says "no thank you" to toddler rodeos and sticky fingers. If there are kiddos in the home, we recommend they're age 10 or older so they can understand the value of personal boundaries.
He loves walks, has big yard dreams, and is fully prepared to protect your grass from squirrels, leaves, and that one suspicious bush. He's not into the whole "dog friend" thing though, and requests no dog parks or canine roommates to disturb his peaceful exploration. If you've got space, respect independence, and are looking for a four-legged partner who is more "mysterious wilderness guide" than "needy lapdog," Okami might just be your guy.
