If you've ever wondered what it's like to have a furry sidekick with a personality as large as a Great Dane and the charm of a cupcake, allow us to introduce you to Josephine! This delightful lady joined our crew in August 2025 as an 8-month-old puppy, ready to conquer the world-one chew toy at a time.
Josephine was quickly scooped up by a loving family, but alas, her fairytale took a plot twist. Living with a Chihuahua turned out to be less of a buddy comedy and more like a sitcom where the star just wants to avoid the yappy overlord at all costs! Our girl prefers her dog buddies to be more on the "big and cuddly" side rather than "purse-sized diva."
In an unfortunate turn of events, Josephine was adopted again but returned just seven weeks later. You see, her new home turned out to be a little overwhelming for her, especially with her impaired vision. She faced challenges navigating her space and, feeling anxious, she decided to voice her discomfort by growling and, occasionally, snapping-a standard panic response when you're a pup trying to figure out life in a new environment. We offered training to help her adjust-it usually takes longer for pups with vision issues to acclimate-but sadly, her adopters gave up on her too soon. It's like returning a sweater because it didn't fit perfectly on the first wear-and we all know that's a bit unfair!
Despite this setback, Josephine is still a sweetheart who dreams of a home where she can luxuriate in her retirement plan, which, let's be honest, is mainly about napping and indulging in gourmet treats (plenty of those, please!).
Now, about those unique challenges: Josephine is living with cataracts and a retinal disease, making her a bit like a chef who lost her recipe book-she can hear the kitchen magic happening but has no clue if dinner is going to be a Michelin-star meal or a charred mess. Even if we could wave a magic wand and fix her cataracts, her retinal condition would still be a part of her life: a little reminder of how imperative it is to choose function over fashion-thanks, irresponsible breeding!
