Meet Humphrey.
Y'all, we're going to be for real reals with you here. We sent Humphrey into fospice because he looked an awful lot like he was trying to die.
That was in January ??
So clearly he didn't die. And that's great, obviously.
But now we have to find a home for this medical mystery of a cat.
What we DO know:
- He seems to have a regressive FeLV infection. Regressive FeLV is when the virus is not actively replicating in the body, but is still present. The veterinary world still has a long way to go in understanding regressive FeLV - its disease progression, prognosis, and contagiousness. But for caution's sake, Humphrey should live with kitties who are vaccinated for FeLV.
- He is chronically congested. We have checked for all the things that make cats chronically sneezy, and we have treated for all the things that make cats chronically sneezy, but Humphrey stubbornly remains chronically sneezy. We deal with it with the occasional nebulizer treatment. Honestly, it makes no difference at all. Makes us feel better though!
- He has stomatitis (a painful inflammation of the gums), and that sometimes flares up. It doesn't stop him from eating though. He has had most of his teeth removed to help with the flare-ups.
- He is hilarious. He is loud. He is insistent about pets. His head tilt makes him positively scrumptious. He is very, very loveable.
Who's the right family for Humphrey? Well, you shouldn't be people who easily panic. You should be people who love a mystery. You should be people who think quirks make you extra special. You should not mind being sneezed on. You should be the kind of people who know that sometimes, adoption is more about them than it is about you :)
