Brooklyn & Peanut are a very special pair of Frenchies who will need a very special home!
Brooklyn is both blind and deaf, and very reliant on her sister Peanut to get around and navigate her world, especially in unfamiliar environments. Despite this, she is a happy dog with a joy for life, and loves meeting people! Peanut is very protective of her sister, especially around new people, and will often try to herd Brooklyn away from people who have not established themselves as trustworthy. But once they know you, they are the snuggliest pair of lap dogs!
These girls had never walked on a leash before coming to the shelter, but now after several months are making great progress walking on a split lead, so Brooklyn can always feel Peanut close by. However, both dogs are more comfortable off-leash in a yard, and therefore a home with a fenced-in yard would be ideal for them as they continue to work on leash-walking skills. They would also do best in a home without too many stairs to get outside, as Brooklyn will probably need to be lifted up/down any stairs.
An owner with previous experience with blind and/or deaf dogs would be ideal, but our team will be happy to give you guidance and trainings tips for setting up your home safely and helping both dogs be successful!
