Big Hoss
*Staffordshire Terrier mix
*1.5 years and 58 lbs.

I'm the biggest mush and yes, I have quite the frowny face. Sorry about that. Found as stray and nearly starving, I lucked out in a family taking me and my bestie (SKYLAR) in where our spirits and health were restored. While in recovery mode with that family, we had free roaming access on a huge parcel of land which also included a creek. Boy was that all a lot of fun! We are both at the shelter now because we are ready for our new pet assignments and are hopeful you'll tune into us. I'm still a bit shy/cautious at the shelter hence the look of concern on my face. I've been reassured all is well and that soon someone (Perhaps YOU??) might come and take me home. I'm a gentle giant of sorts with my 60lbs of heft coupled with my soft, gentle demeanor. Patient and calm and happy to show off my excellent "sitting" and soft mouthed skills, I sure hope you'll come for me (and oh, the fun if you also took Skylar) and make me your new best friend. My name is BIG HOSS. TY for reading about me.

Facebook Update March 18: Have you met our new Odd Couple? Found as strays who were starving, BIG HOSS (white) and SKYLAR (brindle) were dutifully nursed back to health by the family who found them and now, they are ready for YOU to bring home. Ideally, it would be lovely to see them head home together but if they find work in 2 different homes, that too is ok. Both of these dogs are polite and more calm. Having said that, they are also settling in so more layers and more personality will no doubt emerge! Loving and soft in their ways, Big Hoss is a huge headed mush while Skylar's perky, bouncy, silly side is already showing its fun face. We enjoy getting to know our new Odd Couple and hope you'll consider one or both as your new 4 legged side kick friends.

Facebook Update March 29: We LOVE our buff boy BIG HOSS!  As you can see,  he's keeping his head up and working on keeping his spirit up til he heads home.  Our handsome hunk was found as a very skinny stray several weeks ago and a nice family nursed him back to pristine health.  He can still have a hint of shyness when you meet him, but rest assured his robust, friendly, welcoming personality will beautifully rise to the surface.  Check out our solid friend and plan on falling in love!

Facebook Update April 3: Our most masculine, blocky headed friend BIG HOSS is working hard to keep it all together but already he's getting a bit frantic in his kennel.  As folks walk by and everyone is getting amped up,  he's joining in that energy and it's very stressful on him.  We're working on finding more calm, low traffic areas for him to spend his day but then he's not as visible to those walking and considering the pets on our adoption floor.    As you enjoy his new round of pics,  you'll note there is not a lot of smiling going on there.  There is however a sense of contentment and calm.  We'd like to think he's doing all of his smiling on the inside as he so enjoys his quiet time and lovey, dovey time with the volunteers.  Our hearts are wrapped around Big Hoss and he has his paws crossed that soon YOU will come and experience all his largess and buffiness.  Please ask for BIG HOSS today.

Facebook Update April 9: Rounding out our day is the exciting news that BIG HOSS was offsite on a 1/2 day of adventure. His journey took him to the Seneca Adventure Trail and oh, the fun he had!! Our solid and most strapping fellow is really struggling at the shelter and in at least one of these pics, you can see his ribs starting to show. It's stressful in the kennel day in and day out and Big Hoss is trying hard to keep it together while letting us know we need to push him and match him up with his new family. Note: 1.5 yrs old and about 60lbs.

From his off site guide: I looooved Big Hoss!! He is the sweetest boy ever and so well behaved. We took him on a hike and he was so great. Thank you so much! I will definitely be back soon to walk him again Seneca adventure trail.
