Foster Update Jan 13: My family has had the honor of fostering Carter for the past week. When I arrived at the shelter last week to pick up a temporary foster dog and the shelter employee recommended Carter...I thought she was insane! We have cats and 3 small children and let's be honest he looks intimidating. Boy was I wrong!!!! Carter is the most gentle and loving dog! He wants nothing more than to be around people and I think he has found a new love for blankets! Not once did he try to get on the furniture and had no accidents in the house! He would stand at the back door and bark if he needed to potty. He also loves car rides and enjoyed riding with me to pick my kids up from school. He loved spending time with my children in their playroom. My 8 year old was able to take him for walks on his leash without him pulling or trying to run away. We actually took him out in the snow without a leash and he stayed right with us the entire time. He loved running and playing in the snow. But was just as happy to come back inside and snuggle with his blanket. Although he is deaf we were able to get him to sit on command and has absolutely no food aggression...just fear of missing out on a snack! If he even thinks you are trying to sneak a snack without sharing he will follow you around until you share. Two words perfectly describe Carter...gentle giant! I am so hopeful that Carter will find a loving forever home very soon!
