On paper, they call me MISSISSIPPI but you can call me Miss or Hey You or Sweet Thing, etc.   I don't mind much how you address me so long as you love and cherish me.  As you may know,  I recently had a litter of pups...my last litter..my final litter...and now, my role as a momma dog is officially over. I look forward to a new full time pet position.  At 6 yrs of age,  I get the gig.  I'm very polite, calm, gentle in my ways and I'm very easy to simply chill and hang out with.  I was terrific in exiting the kennel area. I had a pretty long stretch of kennels to go by but none of the noise/chaos bothered me. I beautifully strolled by all the active dogs at the front of their gates and made my way outside.  I'm good on the leash and very soft in my ways.  While I may not immediately be super huggy/kissy,  I did give the photo later a sneak kiss on her leg as we finished up.  I was grateful for my time outside and even more grateful for her reassuring words on how lovely and pleasant a doggy I am.  She made me smile and said she'd work hard to match me up with my new family.  Since you've read this far,  perhaps that person might be you.  As for me.... MISSISSIPPI ...and you'll find a great friend in me by your side.

Facebook Update July 27: Hot from our volunteer's camera is a photo of brand new arrival MISSISSIPPI! Folks, YOU need to meet this amazing lady! She just had her final....last...finito...litter of pups... A BIG LITTER of 7...and we have to, just have to find her that perfect new home where she can be a companion pet. Mississippi is very calm and polite and soft in her ways. Did we mention she's also most lovely?? With 6 yrs of prior pet experience under her paws, she knows how to get the pet job done and would love to meet YOU TODAY! We open at 10am. Come on by!

Facebook Update August 10: There's no line. There's no wait to see our lovely blonde delight MISSISSIPPI! This calm, sweet and mild mannered retired momma dog has been so amazing under our care but at the end of the day needs a new full time pet job! Never meeting a stranger, we think you'll agree she's easy peezey to walk and even easier to love on. One of the older pets under our care, a shelter is no place for a middle aged lady to be....or for that matter...any aged pet. Mississippi is a good size gal at 60lbs which gives you even more angles and area to love on! She's patiently waiting and hoping to meet you soon!!

Facebook Update August 17: Our good middle age friend MISSISSIPPI had a girl's weekend (last weekend) off site in a foster home and boy, did she rock it out. As we suspected, she was very polite, easy to manage, calm, loving, doting and just an all around great girl. With access to 26 acres of land at her disposal, she was mindful of her boundaries, came when she was called, excellent in indicating she needed to go outside for a pee break, a very good listener and really just wanting to be near her humans and love on them. Mississippi was excellent as visitors came by the home, no barking, was gentle and perfectly natured around the foster's 81 yr old mother, knows "stay" and "come" but "sit" still seems to be a puzzler for her! 2 out of 3 not bad, eh?

Graced with a mature outlook, Mississippi was respectful and very much understood the dynamics of living inside a home. No accidents! She was content to stretch out and relax at her new human friends' feet and never hopped up on the furniture. For night time, while she was offered a crate, she was not thrilled with the offer. Instead, a plush blanket on the floor by the human bed seemed to suit her style and was an ideal match for her as she stayed put and was great in the home overall.

Extra notes from Foster Mom Donna: My mom and I gave her a bath with hose pipe and lots of Johnson's baby shampoo and she loved it. She stood totally still while we lathered her up. She has beautiful brown eyes. she will pay attention and tries to understand anything. She loved baked apple yogurt treats. She was so gentle around my 81 year old mom . She never ran or got excited in house and was very quiet and followed my mom around some so gently. I threw ball for her outside and she loved playing ball and showed her energy side when we played ball. I hope she gets a great home with gentle people cause this dog is gentle and wants to please people. She sheds a bit but what dog doesn't? I walked her on leash couple hours when I first got her but she earned my trust by showing me when I'd lay leash down to do something she'd wait and never attempt to run. Eventually let her walk around in yard without leash while I was with her. Noted we're off road and on 26 acres. Thought this info could help her get good home. Sweetest girl.

Folks, how totally amazing does MISSISSIPPI sound to YOU!! A few notes on her: Shepard mix, 6yrs old, 60lbs, a recent mom (now 100% retired), unofficially voted Most likely to fit into YOUR Home!" LOL Click through the pics....smile... and then you know the drill. Reach out to us and tell us, "She's perfect for me!"
