Luna
*Mountain Cur mix
*1.5 years old and 38 lbs
*A very smart and trainable girl!
Luna lived in a large household full of people and pets. LIfe became chaotic and Luna came to the shelter. Full of spunk, she is always ready to play. Super friendly and easy to walk makes Luna a great catch! She will fit right into your household and quickly make you fall in love!

More about me June 13: We could not be prouder of our strawberry blonde delight, LUNA!  When she arrived with several doggy friends from a challenging situation,   she was terribly thin and just super frightened.  Today,  she is a 100% totally different dog and it warms our hearts to see her smiling and looking and feeling so much better.  Luna is playful and loving and is so pleased when we reach for her to head out for a walk.  This great girl could walk for miles if given a chance and oh, the fun you would have with her!!  Luna can still be reserved when she first meets folks.   What seems to work best for her (which can be true for other shy dogs as well) is to let her make the first move and approach you and give you lots of sniffs.  Ignoring and showing her no interest allows her to feel more confident and in no time,  your new friend is blossoming right by your side.   She's been rooming with a sibling, LAYLA and the two of them are really awesome together. They run and play and scoot around with great gusto and clearly adore each other.  Luna has been good at meeting other dogs while out walking so she might be open to starting her new life with other dogs already in residence.   Luna still harbors some insecurities from her former life but with a patient, loving human to help guide her along,  the sky is the limit for this beauty!

Facebook update June 16: "My fave dog on the yard is LUNA.  That's a no brainer!"  When we asked one of our regular dog walkers who she was drawn to, she quickly offered up Luna.  She went on to explain that Luna had arrived very frightened and underweight.  As an "underdog" of sorts,  she felt drawn to give her some extra attention to help get her over that hurdle.   Today,  she's at a great weight and is smiling and smiling and look at that tail wag!  Luna can still be cautious in meeting new folks but as the volunteer explained, "Let Luna come and meet you.  Ignore her and curiosity will get the best of her and she'll check you out.  I love her to pieces and can't wait for the right family to see how wonderful a companion pet she will be."   Note: Luna is about 40lbs and 1.5yrs old.  She has done well meeting other dogs while out on walks and sports a stunning strawberry blonde coat.

Facebook July 13: It's summertime hot out there but who's the COOLEST dog?? We're a bit biased but ask around and you'll quickly learn that LUNA is the coolest dog! This pretty blonde lady has gone unnoticed for several weeks now and she's really ready to head on home. She was super shy upon arrival, but she's now loaded with smiles and plenty of tail wags and love. Her bestie friend is LAYLA (bk/tan Shepard mix) and no doubt, she'd love to head home with her but is also open to going solo and or joining a family with another resident dog. What she knows for sure is that she's up to being someone's amazing, companion pet. Ask for LUNA today!

Facebook update July 25: WE LOVE LUNA! Our beautiful strawberry blonde girl has been with us over 2 months now and still no interest. No nothing. She arrived pretty shy but has been working super, super hard to become her best pet self and today, you can count on lots of smiles and tail wags from our brave girl. She still has some shy/timid moments but she's getting there. As you may also recall, her best friend Layla, was adopted (and is still missing!) so she's been winging it alone at the shelter. Do you believe in helping the underdog?? If so, we've brought her along a LOT and with a few buffs and polishes here and there, she's good as golden as YOUR new perfect pet. Ask for LUNA today, oh pretty please!!

Facebook update August 26: "My Girl...talking about My Girl...she's my sunshine on a rainy day!"   Folks, by now maybe you know we're talking about our strawberry jacketed friend LUNA!   Luna has totally lucked out in being in a foster home over the last few weeks and she has rocked it out. Is she the sunshine on her foster mom's rainy day?  You bet BUT she wishes to be YOUR sunshine on a rainy day!   A few notes on what works for our great girl!!

**Desires a home with another dog.  She loves the resident doggy in her foster home and is very much better off with her by her side. She perks up immeasurably and is silly, goofy and playful with the doggy around.  Recently, the doggy was out of the house for a short period of time and oh boy...Luna was most sad and seemingly lost without her friend.  Luna is much more confident with other dogs by her side and also, just happier.
**Ok with cats!  She's wishing to interact and play with the resident kitty but it's not a deal breaker for her in her new home.**Housebroken and crate trained.
**Softly loving, kind and affectionate and can't wait to greet her human with a huge smile and waggy tail.  Again, think about her sunshine factor!
**More cautious around men but is willing to welcome them into her world.  We're introducing her to males who are "coated" with hotdogs...think the person is throwing hot dogs her way, offering them to her and then viola,  the man is ok!   A little patience and calm energy and the snacks will go a long way with her adding men to her friend list.
**Less is more in her world.  A more quiet home will help her be at her best.   Loud noises can easily startle her and even walking on busy sidewalk areas can be too much for her.   Slow and steady and easy does it will win the race for Luna.

Lastly,  Luna like many of the dogs who wind up under our care, arrived from a more challenging background.  She was really, really frightened upon arrival so to see how well she is doing now is totally amazing.  She's working hard at trusting people and getting used to new experiences and areas and will continue to grow into the amazing pet she was always destined to be....with YOUR HELP!!   Help us help LUNA by asking about her today!!  She's counting on her happily ever after and knows her new human is just a click away!

Facebook Update August 29: Who is this girl and why is she so tired??? It's LUNA.....AGAIN...as she wanted to show off how well she did during a recent training session to befriend Perry. Luna is reserved around everyone but for men, she's particularly shy. We're getting her over this hurdle one, 2 or 3 hotdogs (LOL) at a time and with the aid of patient, calm men who turn into treat dispensers right before her eyes. Luna is still in foster care but needs a new home to call her home. The big priority for Luna is that the home has another dog waiting to welcome her home. Sound like your kind of girl? Your kind of doggy? Luna is
