Mikey's Holiday Wish: A Forever Home
Mikey has been mostly a very good boy this year-aside from his talent for scaling 6-foot chain-link fences! But don't let that fool you-he's firmly on Santa's "Nice List." This cheerful, loving, and playful pup is the perfect companion for someone ready to match his zest for life.
2024 was a big year for Mikey. After arriving at our shelter, we discovered he had heartworms-a tough diagnosis for any dog. Mikey handled it like a champ, though, staying calm and patient through three months of treatment (not easy for an energetic guy like him).
A quick reminder for pet owners: Heartworm prevention is as easy as giving your dog a monthly pill. Be sure to talk to your vet about keeping your furry friends safe and healthy!
Now fully recovered and heartworm-free, Mikey is ready to find his forever family. He's currently the only dog in the shelter, and his one Christmas wish is to spend the holidays in a loving home.
Mikey is a 6-year-old, neutered Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He's:
Dog selective: Prefers to choose his canine companions wisely.
Definitely Not a fan of cats or other small furry things: Those whiskers are just too tempting to chase!
Great with older kids: He thrives in active homes where he can keep up with the fun.
Adventurous and well-behaved: Loves car rides, tolerates baths like a pro, and knows some basic commands.
While Mikey already has a solid foundation, he'd benefit from continued training to polish his manners and unleash his full potential.
If you're looking for a loyal and spirited companion, Mikey could be the perfect addition to your family. Give him the gift of a home this holiday season-and he'll return the favor with endless love and tail wags.
