Update 12/27/2022:
Harry has been with his foster family for 5 weeks now. This sweet but skittish pup is getting better at meeting new people but still takes a litter longer to warm up to men. Leash training is skill a challenge so we continue to requires a fenced yard for outdoor security. He now has been left alone for periods of time where he has been kenneled with the resident Dane. It is unknown how he would do with free roam, or kenneled alone.

12/10/2022 Introducing Harry!
Bio:
- 5 month old male Great Dane puppy
- Too young to neuter yet, will have a neuter expectation in his adoption contract
- Black coat with white markings
- Located in Brookings, SD

Basic Info:
- Harry is a young fellow and working hard on learning all of his basic commands. His foster mom is also currently working on his leash and kennel training.
- He is not food motivated, but he has occasionally counter surfed if given the opportunity.
- Currently being kennel trained, he's starting to recognize the command "kennel" and eats in there with the door closed.
- Good with cats
- Unknown how he would do with very young kids, but has experience with kids 9 and older

Likes:
- Loves toys: ropes, squeaky toys, and grunting piggies
- While he is a playful boy, he does also love a good nap!
- Great with other dogs. He is a follower, not a leader

Dislikes/Quirks:
- Takes time to warm up to new people, men especially.
- Can be a bit skittish. People who are loud/boisterous/move quickly frighten him.
- Having a shy personality overall, he looks for a confident leader to follow when with other dogs.

Medical Notes:
- Healthy pup!
- There will be a clause in his adoption contract requiring Harry to be neutered at 10 months old. If the adopters chooses to take him to an UMGDR approved veterinary clinic, the rescue will pay for the neuter directly. If the adopter prefers to use a non-UMGDR approved clinic, the rescue will reimburse them $150 after the surgery is complete.

Hard Requirements For Forever Home:
- Requires a fenced in yard, as he will not potty outside on a leash or tie out.
- Requires a companion dog in the adoptive home to show him the ropes
- Harry has not yet been left home alone at his foster home as typically someone has always been home since he arrived in foster care. At this time (young age and stage of training), he should not be left alone longer than a few hours at a time.
