Meet Cookie - a recent graduate of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter's Leashing Hope program and an all-around very good girl with a heart full of sweetness.

Cookie spent six weeks in the Leashing Hope program, a partnership between WCRAS and the Bartlett Innovation Unit that pairs shelter dogs with inmates for individualized training and socialization. Through this program, she learned her basic commands, improved her leash skills, and built the confidence that comes from being someone's daily companion. She's one of 22 dogs who have completed the program since it launched in early 2025, and we're so proud of this smart, steady graduate.

Cookie is dog-friendly (as always, a meet-and-greet is recommended) and genuinely enjoys the company of both people and other pups. She also loves car rides - she hops right in and settles down quietly, making her the perfect partner for mellow adventures.
She's also a bit of a star in our Doggy Day Out program. One of her recent buddies shared this sweet snapshot:

"Cookie is incredibly gentle and calm. She gets into the car easily and rides quietly. She can be a little unsure about busy areas, but once she's somewhere calm - like a quiet park or backyard - she relaxes, plays with her squeaky toys, and soaks up the cuddles. She's laid-back, affectionate, and such a joy to be around."

Cookie thrives on attention from her humans and blossoms in peaceful environments. From yard playtime to napping in the shade with a friend, she brings warmth and contentment wherever she goes.

If you're looking for a gentle, loyal, car-ride-loving companion who already has a solid training foundation and a huge capacity for connection, Cookie might just be your perfect match. She's ready to bring joy, softness, and stability to the home lucky enough to welcome her.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is open every day from noon to 6pm (excluding limited holidays/events). You can meet our adoptable animals with the convenience of an appointment or as a walk-in. Appointments can be made by emailing adoption@wilcotx.gov.

In addition to our main shelter at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626, you can also meet adoptable dogs at our satellite location, the Red Poppy Adoptique, located at 110 W L Walden Dr, Georgetown, TX 78626.

Looking for a fun way to make a difference? Try our Doggy Day Out program! Take one of our pups on an adventure for a few hours-giving them a much-needed break from the shelter while you enjoy some quality time. The program runs at both locations daily starting at noon.

We always welcome your dogs to come and meet our dogs, too! We'll see you soon at either location!
