How I Arrived At NHS: I came in as an injured stray that someone found. Turns out I had a broken front leg so I went into a foster home while I got lots of splints and medical attention. I am staying in my foster home while I wait to get adopted because I really dislike being in a kennel (plus my foster family LOVES me).

Notes from my foster mom: Sahara is the most resilient, wonderful cat we've ever fostered. She came to us with a broken leg and was so content to just be pampered through her healing. She spent most days snuggled in our arms and carried around. Since her leg healed enough to no longer be casted she has gotten more independent, but her heart remains right with the family. When we had adult company over for Christmas Sahara let them know that scratching around her head is the best way to say hi to her. She was so sweet with our guests that while they were holding her, they asked if they could meet our foster kitty. They thought Sahara was our own cat and couldn't believe how friendly and loveable a "stray" could be! Sahara has been in a quiet low key atmosphere. Her absolute favorite activities are curling up with a good book or stretching out in front of the fireplace.
Sahara is a foodie. She eats Purina One Tender Selects in foster, but I think she'd eat anything. And she scarfs it down fast, so I suggest a slow feeding dish. She has thrown up if she eats too much too fast.
Sahara has gotten playful with catnip toys and makes use of scratch pads and posts. She loves to roll around in catnip.
Sahara and the resident cat are now at a place where they're fine with each other. It took about 3 weeks of supervised meets and sleeping separately at night. Sahara met a cat friendly dog, she hissed at him while she walked around him just to keep him in place, and she was fine with him as long as he abided by her no-chase policy. She has not been around kids.
Sahara is a rare find. With her soft warm coloring and a personality that is just as warm and sweet, I don't know how you wouldn't fall in love with her.

Good with Cats: possibly but needs a slow and proper introduction
Good with Dogs: yes as long as they respect me and don't chase
Good with Kids: likely with a slow and proper introduction

Cats are feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus tested (if applicable), if there is a litter, one in the litter is tested or the queen is tested. They have had at least their first distemper combo (booster given if been in our care for the appropriate time), been de-wormed, microchipped, and treated with a flea and tick product (if applicable). All the cats are spayed or neutered before they leave for their forever homes.
