Tyler spent a few weeks in foster so that they could work with him on some training so here are their notes:
Notes from foster family: Tyler is your typical Shepherd puppy- playful, excitable and full of energy! He's a friendly, happy, social little guy. He is so smart! He loves learning new things and is very food motivated, so it's fun to teach him! He is learning sit, heel, come, lay down, kennel up and drop it. He enjoys interacting with other dogs- he was very playful with several dogs he met while in foster. He would do well in a home with another (dog friendly, playful) dog, as Tyler has a lot of energy and would love someone to play with! Tyler can be mouthy and will try to jump on you at times- he is working on these behaviors and will need time and patience learning what is acceptable. He would greatly benefit from puppy training classes. He is also working on potty training. Since he's a pup, he does like to chew on toys/furniture/ shoes so it will be important he is in a crate when he cannot be watched. Tyler does very well with a routine and with consistency.

His schedule in his foster home was:
Between 6am-7am Wake up and go outside - some time running free to burn some energy- working on "come" and "sit", then more structured walks working on "heel" and "sit".
Breakfast when we get back inside
9am - potty break, outside playtime and obedience training
1pm- potty break, structured walk
Between 4-5 pm dinner
Potty break after dinner
Between 7pm -9 pm structured walk, obedience and potty break
I would wake up one time throughout the night to let him out to potty- usually around midnight or 1 am.

Tyler went out to a winery to listen to live music and someone even brought him out on the dance floor! He was friendly with humans and dogs alike! He enjoyed being in a public setting and enjoys company.
Tyler is the cutest, happiest little guy and will be very loyal to his new family! If Tyler sounds like a good fit for you, come in and meet him today!

Good With Cats: unknown, was very curious and interested in our cat- high prey drive, so supervised interactions would be necessary
Good With Dogs: Yes, met several dogs while in foster and did well. Playful, liked to run. Meet and greet will be done at Northwoods.
Good With Kids: Yes, older kids. Met several kids at the winery. Due to mouthy behavior and jumping I would not recommend younger children. He is friendly, but is unable to contain his excitement, so no young children.

All the dogs at Northwoods Humane Society have had a basic exam by NHS veterinary staff. They have been microchipped, tested for Heartworm (if over 6 months of age), had at least their first distemper combo vaccination (2nd if here longer), dewormed with a general dewormer, and had a flea and tick treatment applied if applicable. All the dogs will be spayed or neutered before they are adopted to their new permanent homes. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.
