Let me introduce you to a lovely "hot mess" named Flapjack.
Flapjack came into the shelter as a stray in rough shape and had lots of medical treatment to help her heal. She went into a foster home while she recovered from 3 ear surgeries (taking off pieces that weren't healing from frostbite) and many sedated ear treatments.
She is a very endearing and loving little lady but has a few physical and personality quirks. She has a head tilt which is likely permanent due to having had a few ear polyps, has blocked tear ducts so is getting her eyes wiped down a few times a week, still has slight sneezing even though she no longer has a URI and her left front paw angles outward which is something she was likely born with. No, Flapjack wouldn't win any beauty contests (few of us would) but her beauty shines from within.
Flapjack loves to be where you are and happily spends an hour or so sitting on your lap while you work. Usually she's good with just laying there but when she wants pets and you either don't do it long enough (or at all), she'll nip/bite on your fingers just letting you know what she wants. She is demanding with her needs!
She LOVES play mice and will carry one around in her mouth all over the house being very vocal. She is very loud when she does this so I am thinking she has a little bit of hearing loss especially since she doesn't always hear you when you're in the room talking to her. She is definitely still playful and just recently found out the circle with the ball in it is pretty fun.
She has been in her foster home with other cats and foster kittens and really doesn't enjoy them. If they leave her alone, she's okay being with them but even if they pass by her too closely, she will swat at them. I think she would really prefer to be your one and only.
To appreciate Flapjack, you really need to spend a little time with this beautifully flawed "hot mess" and let her do her magic to endear herself to you. She's definitely one of a kind!
Good with Cats: not really, would prefer to be the only pet in the home
Good with Dogs: doubtful, would prefer to be the only pet in the home
Good with Kids: yes but not a good fit for really young children due to her nipping of your hands when she wants attention
Medical Note: Flapjack has had 2 polyps show up in her left ear which our vet has taken out but she may require another removal if it grows back. This would be at the expense of the adopter so you can discuss with your vet.
Cats are feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus tested (if applicable), if there is a litter, one in the litter is tested or the queen is tested. They have had at least their first distemper combo (booster given if been in our care for the appropriate time), been de-wormed, microchipped, and treated with a flea and tick product (if applicable). All the cats are spayed or neutered before they leave for their forever homes.
