Meet Belladonna, a total sweetie pie who is enjoying life in a short-term foster home! Although she can be a little timid when first meeting someone, she appreciates slow introductions and warms up quickly. Once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality shines. Belladonna is a total cuddle bug who loves belly rubs, snuggling close, and being near her people. She may even wag her tail while she snores away in her sleep! She absolutely loves her people and will happily soak up all the attention she can get.
Belladonna has been an easy and well-behaved houseguest. She appears to be fully house trained, with no accidents in her foster home. When left alone, she does wonderfully whether she's relaxing in her crate or enjoying access to the first floor. She mostly settles into a comfy spot and naps, and she hasn't gotten into any trouble while she's had some freedom around the house. She also enjoys chewing on bones and playing with soft stuffed toys.
This lovely girl enjoys getting outside for walks and is generally good on leash. She may pull toward people or other animals when she's excited, and she occasionally lets out an excited squeal when she spots another animal, including dogs and cats. With a little patience and continued positive reinforcement, she's learning that she doesn't have to rush over to say hello to everyone she sees.
Belladonna is incredibly friendly and has met many new people during her time in foster. Her preferred greeting is to approach with plenty of puppy-like enthusiasm, including licking and jumping up to say hello. Her foster family is working with her on keeping all four paws on the floor, and her jumping appears to come from pure excitement and a desire to be close to people. Because she can be a little jumpy, she should be supervised around small children so she doesn't accidentally knock them over.
Belladonna has met other dogs at the shelter and can be a little overwhelmed at first. She has done best with gentle, socially savvy male dogs and may need to meet any potential canine roommates to make sure they are a good match. Her foster home has not had interactions between Belladonna and resident pets, so adopters should plan on thoughtful introductions with any dogs already in the home.
Belladonna appears to know "sit," especially when treats are involved, and she is eager to be around her people. She has moderate energy and enjoys going for walks, followed by a good nap. She's the kind of dog who can enjoy an adventure with her person and then happily curl up for some quality cuddle time afterward.
And yes, Belladonna is just as pretty as she is sweet! Those eyes, those ears, that beautiful coloring-she really is a gorgeous girl. More than anything, though, Belladonna wants a person or family who will appreciate her affectionate nature, help her polish her greeting manners, and give her plenty of love in return.
