Butterfree is a sweet, 39-pound girl who had a tough start to her journey with BARCS. She was understandably very scared when she first arrived, but with time, patience, and staff and volunteers who gave her the space she needed to feel safe, Butterfree has already come so far and is learning that people aren't so scary after all.
She can still be nervous when she first meets someone, but give her a little time, a gentle approach, and some tasty treats, and you'll soon see her sweet personality shine. Butterfree loves food, which has helped her make lots of new friends and build confidence. Once she starts to feel comfortable, she offers the softest little tail wags, sweet kisses, and looks to her person for reassurance and comfort. Before long, you may find yourself with a little velcro pup who just wants to stay close.
Butterfree is easy to walk on leash and has been wonderfully calm around passing dogs. She appreciates treats and takes them gently, and she enjoys gentle pets and scratches from the people she trusts.
Butterfree has met other dogs at the shelter and does best with gentle, polite friends. She has also done well with small breed dogs with management. She will need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.
This lovely medium-sized girl is still building her confidence, but she's making progress every day. Butterfree needs someone willing to give her the time and patience to understand that she is safe and loved. In return, you'll get to experience the incredibly special feeling of watching a once-frightened girl learn to trust, relax, and become your devoted companion.
