Mystique is a sweet older lady who is all about the snuggles, cuddles, and kisses. She sees EVERYONE as a friend. Kids melt her heart and she'll give them lots of kisses and attention. Miss Mystique doesn't see well but her nose makes up for it. She doesn't let her lack of eyesight keep her down that's for sure! This brave little lady will even enthusiastically navigate the agility equipment with a little help from her handler. She is a precious angel who loves sniffing and is very food motivated. She's a medium sized girl at 37 pounds.
Mystique enjoyed a slumber party with a volunteer, where we learned a bit more about her. She may disagree on how to be a passenger in the car, but that's only because she believes a safe and successful car ride is one where she is able to ride in a human lap, not alone in the backseat. Silly humans- how come they don't understand? She LOVES snackies- of many kinds and smells and flavors. She especially enjoyed her outing for a pup cup! And despite being mostly blind, she takes every bite from your hand ever so gently. She's not always great with her sniffer but can find treats on the ground if you tap on the floor.
Mystique's best qualities? She's a PRO snuggler. More than treats, more than walks, more than car rides- this girl THRIVES on affection and attention from human companions. She wants pats, snuggles, and loves a good butt scratch! The sound of your voice talking to her triggers an immediate, gleeful response- her tail wagging and her body following, even if she might not know exactly, for sure, where you are. You ask her: "Do you want to go on a walk?" She will tilt her head, playbow, tippy tappy around the room, and bark with anticipation.
Mystique did very well with children (ages 8 and 13) and was cuddly with everyone. She was respectful in the home, and didn't jump up on furniture or beds without asking. Even in the short time she was with her volunteer friend, she learned the layout of the home and was able to navigate with her limited vision. This smart gal knows a few tricks and is great at "sit," "stay," and "lay down!" She is also house trained.
Mystique has a lot of pep in her step and can still get spunky on her walks. She's just so excited by the new smells and wants to check out everything! She is easily corrected and will settle down quickly. She really enjoys rolling in the grass and walking and exploring in the grass or on trails. Some of her favorite things on her overnights were pup cups, belly rubs, and car rides! And of course, lots of kisses. She's affectionate through and through, always ready for pets or to settle in close with her favorite people. She has a bright spirit, big heart, and her vision has never gotten in the way of enjoying life.
Mystique has met other dog pals at BARCS, she would like to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. She prefers gentle and polite dog pals.
Sweet Mystique may be older, blind, and a quirky girl, but this girl ONLY has love to give. She deserves love and a home and safety in her golden years.Visit BARCS to meet Mystique!
