Meet Shannana! At 8 years young, this sweet senior knows that life is best enjoyed one sniff, snack, and belly rub at a time. Shannana came to BARCS as a stray, and the person who found her described her as friendly and easy to handle. She arrived needing some extra TLC, but after spending time in a short-term foster home, she's feeling better and showing everyone just how much personality this lovely lady has!
Shannana is a leisurely walking companion who enjoys strolling along wherever her person wants to go, taking her time to sniff and explore along the way. But don't let her relaxed pace fool you-this girl has a playful side too! She enjoys toys, will hilariously try to carry more than one at a time, and is even up for a game of tug.
If you've got treats, you've already won Shannana's heart. During her foster stay, she discovered that watermelon is her absolute favorite, with cottage cheese earning rave reviews too. She already knows "sit" and "down" and is always happy to demonstrate her skills when a tasty reward might be involved.
Shannana is also incredibly affectionate. She enjoys gentle head scratches, melts when you tell her what a good girl she is, and will happily roll onto her back in hopes of scoring a belly rub. More than anything, she just wants to be with her people. Give her some pets, a few good sniffs, a tasty snack, and a comfy place to nap, and she's one happy girl.
She has enjoyed spending time with calm, easygoing dog friends and even seemed particularly fond of one handsome boy at the shelter. Shannana is looking for a cat-free home, though, as she has shown that she'd much rather chase cats than live peacefully with them.
Every sweet girl deserves her happily ever after, and Shannana is more than ready for hers. She's looking for someone who will spoil her, cherish her, and show her just how wonderful life can be. In return, you'll get a loyal, affectionate, easygoing companion who will remind you to slow down, enjoy the little things, and never turn down an opportunity for watermelon.
Shannana has met other dogs at the shelter, she is a gentle girl! She would prefer a home without cats though.
