Banyan is a handsome 3-year-old boy weighing 55 pounds who is looking for a family to help him continue building his confidence. He may be a little shy when you first meet him as he adjusts to his new surroundings, but it doesn't take long for his sweet, gentle personality to shine through.
Banyan is an excellent leash walker and is easy to handle, making him a wonderful companion for neighborhood strolls or outdoor adventures. He absolutely loves head scratches and happily soaks up any affection you're willing to give. He's also very treat-motivated, though his excitement can make him a little grabby when taking treats, so gentle reminders will help him polish his manners.
Meet Banyan! This handsome 55-pound boy is the definition of a gentle soul. While he may be a little shy when meeting new people or exploring new places, once he knows you're a friend, all he wants is to stay close and soak up your affection.
Banyan recently enjoyed a slumber party with a volunteer, and he proved what an easy companion he is. He appears to be housebroken and he's a dream to walk, strolling along on a loose leash with no pulling or reactivity, happy to take in the sights at his own leisurely pace.
At home, Banyan was calm, quiet, and incredibly sweet. His favorite thing in the world is being close to his people, especially if they are handing out neck scratches or butt scratches. He greeted new people at the shelter with happy tail wags and was unfazed by small dogs barking at him. Thunder didn't bother him either, showing just how easygoing he can be.
This sweet boy is still figuring out some of life's luxuries. He doesn't seem to know what toys are yet and is a little picky about treats-but cheese quickly won him over! He was a little unsure about jumping onto the couch or into the car, preferring a helping hand, which he accepted with complete trust.
Banyan is an easy dog to love. He's gentle, affectionate, walks beautifully on leash, and simply wants someone to pet him and let him be by their side. His volunteer summed him up perfectly: "Perfect boy!" If you're looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Banyan may be the one you've been waiting for.
