Meet Acana! This playful, 50-pound sweetheart is full of personality and ready to make you smile. She comes out of her kennel excited to start her adventure but quickly settles into a nice walk. She enjoys spotting other dogs and may pull a little to say hello, so she'll thrive with continued positive reinforcement and leash practice.
Acana has the most soulful puppy-dog eyes, and once you meet her, you'll see they're just as sweet as she is. She loves to goof around with toys, soak up affection, and show off her skills for treats. This smart girl already knows "sit," "paw" and "down"! After a little playtime, she's just as happy to snuggle up beside you for pets and cuddles.
Acana had a great time at the Summer of Love adoption event! She was SUCH a good girl: great with kids of all ages (including really little ones!), and not reactive to the other dogs. She loved all the attention and once she learned that rolling over would get her ALL the belly rubs, she was all in! She was easily redirected with a toy or treats when needed, and she loved chewing on her toys while her human held it for her!
Acana recently enjoyed an overnight stay with a volunteer, and she showed everyone just what an amazing dog she is! From the moment they met, she was a wiggly, happy girl who was excited to make a new friend. She hopped right into the car, settled in after a few minutes, and was ready for her next adventure.
This smart cookie already knows an impressive list of cues, including sit, down, paw, other paw, kennel, and here! She absolutely loves treats, making training both fun and rewarding. In fact, her foster quickly had her happily sitting and walking right by their side because Acana couldn't wait to earn another snack. With her eagerness to learn and love of food, she'll be a joy to continue training.
Acana settled beautifully into her foster home and proved to be housebroken in a home environment. She slept soundly in her crate after a brief protest, happily curled up on a cozy dog bed, and loved simply being part of the household. While she may occasionally have accidents in the shelter, her overnight adventure showed just how well she can do once she's in a consistent home routine.
When it came time for fun, Acana's playful personality truly shined! Her favorite part of the sleepover was racing around the backyard doing joyful zoomies at top speed. She also loved meeting new people during a trip to the pet store and was wonderfully tolerant during a bath.
Acana is an active young girl who would thrive with a family that enjoys adventures and can provide both physical exercise and mental enrichment. Like many enthusiastic dogs, she can get a little mouthy during play, but she's incredibly responsive and easily redirected with a toy or a tasty treat. She's eager to please and learns quickly, making continued training a rewarding experience for both her and her future family.
