Meet Ripley (Rip)! At 49 pounds, he's the perfect medium-sized companion with a calm, gentle heart and an affectionate personality that's impossible not to love. While he may look like a laid-back gentleman, Rip also has an adventurous side and enjoys long walks, exploring new places, and spending as much time as possible with his favorite people. Whether you're heading out for a stroll or settling in for a cozy night at home, Rip is happiest right by your side.

Since moving into his foster home, Ripley has continued to show what a wonderful companion he can be. He's fully housetrained with no accidents and has quickly made himself at home. His foster describes him as incredibly people-oriented and eager to be wherever his humans are. One of his sweetest quirks is wanting company while he eats-he'll often pause if you walk away, then happily continue once you come back to reassure him. It's just one of the many little habits that make him so endearing.

Ripley absolutely loves being with his people and thrives on companionship. He enjoys snuggling in bed, relaxing after long walks, and soaking up affection whenever it's offered. His foster has noticed that he seems very aware when his people leave the room and may watch the door or become a little worried until they return. His foster has begun crate training with plenty of treats and chew toys, and he's settling into his new routine. As with many dogs adjusting to a brand-new environment, Rip may need a little patience and reassurance as he learns that his family will always come back.

Ripley is an active boy who enjoys getting out and exploring. His foster describes his energy level as high, and he's happiest after a long walk where he can stretch his legs and take in the sights and smells around him. He enjoys relaxing afterward with a favorite chew toy or curling up for a nap. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he has already enjoyed adventures through local parks while meeting new people along the way.

On leash, Ripley is generally a pleasant walking companion. He may pull a little at times, especially when excited or when another dog catches his attention, but he's already working on loose-leash skills. His foster has been teaching him to stop and check back in whenever he pulls, and he's also practicing cues like "sit," "down," and "leave it." Rip is eager to learn and responds well to patient, positive reinforcement.

Ripley has met many new people during his foster stay and continues to show his gentle, thoughtful personality. He is polite when greeting strangers and often chooses whether he'd like to stop for pets or simply continue on his walk. When he does decide to say hello, he happily accepts affection before checking back in with his person. He has met adults of all genders and handled those introductions well.

He loves long-lasting chew toys and enjoys relaxing after a day of adventures, but more than anything, Rip simply wants to be near his people. His foster says he's happiest when he knows his family is close, whether that's cuddling on the couch, sharing a quiet evening, or heading out together for another walk.

Ripley has met other dogs at BARCS and during walks and tends to do best with calm, polite canine companions. He can become excited when he sees certain dogs on leash, so continued positive training will help him build confidence and focus. As always, he'd like to meet any potential dog roommates before adoption to make sure everyone is a good fit.

Ripley is a loving, loyal boy who's still settling into foster life, and each day his personality shines a little brighter. With continued structure, plenty of exercise, and a family that understands he may need a little time to adjust, Ripley is sure to become an incredibly devoted companion. If you're looking for an affectionate best friend who will happily join you for long walks before curling up beside you for the evening, Ripley may be the perfect match.

Ripley is currently enjoying the comfort of a foster home while he waits for his forever family. If you're interested in meeting him, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps.
