Meet Whey, a handsome, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his love for cuddles. His foster describes him as the "sweetest, most gentle, loving snugglebug," and after spending time with him, it's easy to see why. Whey is the kind of dog who is happiest when he's close to his people, whether he's joining them for an outing, learning something new, or curling up beside them for a cozy evening.
Whey has settled beautifully into his foster home and continues to prove what an easy and well-behaved houseguest he is. His housetraining is going very well, and he has made significant progress with his household manners. His foster reports that he has largely stopped counter surfing, showing that this goofy boy is more than capable of learning what's expected of him with consistency and guidance. When it's time to relax, Whey knows how to settle down and enjoy some downtime.
One of Whey's greatest strengths is his love for people. He absolutely adores attention and affection and enthusiastically welcomes new friends. During a recent visit from his foster's partner's parents, Whey loved meeting them and repeatedly wanted to cuddle. He has also enjoyed getting out into the community, including a trip to a restaurant with his foster family. Whether he's meeting someone new or snuggling with the people he already knows and loves, Whey seems happiest when humans are around.
Whey is also becoming an increasingly fantastic walking companion. He has made significant progress with pulling and now only pulls occasionally. With continued consistency, he is learning that walks are about exploring alongside his person rather than towing them down the sidewalk. He enjoys getting outside and experiencing new places, and he has handled outings around town well.
He's also a smart boy who enjoys learning. Whey knows "paw," "sit," and "stay," and he clearly enjoys having opportunities to learn and interact with his people. His favorite activities include playing with balls and enjoying a good bully stick. His energy level is around a 7 out of 10, giving him plenty of enthusiasm for walks, playtime, and adventures while still allowing him to settle afterward.
Whey has also shown that he's happy to be included in everyday life. He has attended adoption events, walked around with his vest on, and recently joined his foster family for a restaurant outing. These experiences give him opportunities to experience the world alongside his people, and his sweet, goofy personality makes him a fun companion to have along for the ride.
Whey has previously shown friendly and appropriate social skills with other dogs and has done well around canine companions. His current foster home does not have resident pets, so any potential doggie sibling should meet Whey to make sure they are a good match. His interactions with cats are currently unknown, so families with cats should plan for a careful introduction and appropriate management.
At the end of the day, though, Whey is happiest doing what he does best: loving his people. He is an enthusiastic cuddler who wants nothing more than to be close to his favorite humans. Give him a ball, a little exercise, some positive reinforcement, and plenty of affection, and Whey is one happy boy. His foster says he "lovessss" snuggling and describes him as both incredibly sweet and wonderfully goofy-and that pretty much sums him up.
