Meet Nova Scotia! With his gorgeous brindle coat, goofy personality, and heart of gold, Nova Scotia is the total package! This handsome boy is as sweet as he is fun, always ready to make you smile with his playful antics before settling in for some quality cuddle time.
Nova Scotia enjoys getting his zoomies out with a quick romp in the yard before heading out on a leisurely walk, where he loves sniffing the trails and taking in all the sights and smells. He's easy to leash, easy to return to his kennel, and settles into a nice walk after his initial burst of excitement. He's very food-motivated, proudly shows off his "sit," and has even been known to strut his stuff on the agility equipment!
One of Nova Scotia's favorite things, though, is simply being with his people. He'll happily hop onto a bench to snuggle beside you, soaking up all the affection he can get before continuing your adventure together. His silly, goofy personality shines through in everything he does, making every outing with him a little more fun.
Nova Scotia recently spent time in a short-term foster home, and he was a wonderful houseguest! This handsome boy settled into home life quickly and showed off some fantastic manners. Aside from a few minutes of whining on his first night, he slept soundly in his crate and proved to be completely house-trained. He quickly got into a routine, making it outside for all of his potty breaks after an initial marking accident on his first day. When left home alone, he may whine briefly as his people head out, but he settles nicely and is calm when they return.
Nova Scotia has been enjoying all the comforts of home, especially snuggling on the couch with his people. In fact, if you're relaxing, there's a good chance you'll find him curled up right beside you. He also loves chewing on his bone and happily keeps himself entertained with a Kong stuffed with peanut butter and crunchy carrots.
On walks, Nova Scotia is enthusiastic and strong, so he can pull on the leash as he takes in the world around him. However, he's eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement. While kibble isn't especially motivating, he loves tasty training treats and is happy to work for them. His foster has already been seeing improvement with consistent leash practice, and although he gets excited when he spots people or other dogs, he's able to be redirected and continues to make great progress. He's also learning a new trick-"touch"-and is catching on quickly.
Nova Scotia is a friendly, social boy who has happily greeted apartment neighbors and people he meets on walks. He's always excited to receive attention and has charmed everyone he's met with his happy personality. His foster family shared that he's been an absolute pleasure to have around and has settled into home life with ease. With a mid-to-low energy level, he enjoys his walks and enrichment activities before happily relaxing with his favorite people. Like many playful dogs, he can occasionally get a little excited and bouncy, but he's easily redirected with a toy.

Nova Scotia is playful with his favorite dog pals. He may need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. He is eligible to come back to BARCS for socials after adoption.
