Meet Strudel! If you're looking for a dog who is gentle, easygoing, and truly effortless to live with, Strudel may be your perfect match.
This sweet 7-year-old lady came to BARCS as a stray and quickly earned a reputation for being friendly, affectionate, and wonderfully adaptable. Whether she's relaxing at home, enjoying a leisurely neighborhood stroll, riding in the car, attending community events, or exploring somewhere new, Strudel is happiest simply spending time with her people.
One of the first things you'll notice about Strudel is her soulful puppy-dog eyes and gentle nature. She isn't the type to demand attention or overwhelm visitors. Instead, she calmly walks over to say hello, waits politely for affection, and is content simply being near her humans. Once she feels comfortable, she loves snuggles, cozying up for pets and scratches, gentle hugs, and even offering her paw in the sweetest way.
In her foster home, Strudel has proven to be an exceptionally easy houseguest. She appears fully house trained and has had no accidents in foster care. She sleeps quietly through the night, can be trusted to free-roam when left alone, and spends her alone time peacefully napping. She has shown no destructive behaviors, no separation anxiety, and settles into daily life with remarkable ease.
Strudel enjoys spending time outdoors, happily sniffing and exploring her surroundings at her own pace. She is wonderfully relaxed on leash and does not pull at all. She prefers a leisurely stroll over a brisk walk and is more interested in enjoying the scenery than rushing from place to place. She is also impressively non-reactive to other dogs, people, and animals she encounters on walks. While she may quietly watch what's happening around her, she remains calm and focused. She especially loves meeting people and patiently waits for them to approach her for attention.
Her foster family has introduced her to men, women, teenagers, and even toddlers, and Strudel has been lovely with everyone she meets both inside and outside the home. Her calm, friendly demeanor makes her an easy companion to bring along on outings, and she has attended several busy public events with great success.
One of Strudel's favorite activities is rolling around in the grass, and she recently handled a bath like a true professional. While she's an overall low-energy dog, her foster family has seen her energy and enthusiasm continue to blossom as she recovers from her recent URI. She enjoys being included in family activities but is equally content relaxing independently while her people go about their day.
Strudel has met other dogs at BARCS and generally prefers gentle canine companions. Based on her calm behavior around dogs and cats during walks, she may do well with other pets, but any resident dogs should still meet her prior to adoption to ensure a good fit.
What makes Strudel especially special is her calm, respectful nature. She settles easily into new environments and seems to have a remarkable ability to simply make herself at home wherever she goes. Her gentle personality, excellent manners, and adaptable nature make her the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into everyday life.
We believe Strudel would thrive in many different types of homes. She would make a wonderful family dog, but she may be especially appealing to adopters looking for a calm, quiet, low-maintenance companion. If you're searching for a loyal friend with a sweet soul, loving eyes, and a heart of gold, come meet Strudel.
