Meet Timon! This handsome 6-year-old gentleman weighs 78 pounds and has quickly earned a reputation for being the kind of dog who makes himself at home wherever he goes. With his calm demeanor, affectionate personality, and excellent manners, Timon is an easy companion to fall in love with. Whether he's joining you on a neighborhood walk, relaxing on the couch, or simply keeping you company around the house, Timon is happiest when he's spending time with his favorite people.
Timon is currently thriving in a foster home, where he continues to impress everyone with what a wonderful houseguest he is. He settled into foster care almost immediately and has proven himself to be perfectly housetrained, with excellent house manners. When left alone, he remains calm, relaxed, and non-destructive, making him an easy dog to incorporate into everyday life.
One of Timon's favorite things in the world is being close to his people. He absolutely loves affection and happily seeks out opportunities for cuddles and companionship. In fact, his foster says he insists on touching his people while he sleeps, often stretching out between them on the couch or in bed just to make sure he's close. Whether he's curling up next to you, stealing a recently vacated seat before you can sit back down, or quietly following you from room to room, Timon enjoys being part of the family. He is a true lover boy who thrives on human connection and seems perfectly content simply spending time with the people he loves. He has met plenty of new people and continues to charm everyone with his sweet, easygoing personality.
Around the house, Timon has a wonderfully balanced personality. He is mostly laid-back and relaxed, but he still has playful moments and plenty of charm. He gets excited when it's mealtime, when his people return home, or when it's time to enjoy one of his favorite stuffed toys. His beloved stuffies are always a hit, and his moderate energy level makes him an excellent fit for adopters looking for a dog who enjoys leisurely activities and adventures but also appreciates plenty of relaxation.
On walks, Timon continues to demonstrate exceptional leash manners. He is a loose-leash walker who enjoys taking in all the sights and smells around him while happily greeting new people along the way. His foster reports that he's wonderful to walk and an adaptable, easygoing companion who is just as happy exploring the neighborhood as he is relaxing at home afterward.
Timon would thrive in a home where he can continue enjoying the simple pleasures he loves most: leisurely walks, cozy couch cuddles, stuffed toys, tasty treats, and quality time with his family. While he previously showed calm curiosity toward a resident cat through a storm door, a recent adoption trial revealed that he became very fixated on the family's cat. Because of this, Timon would likely be happiest in a cat-free home where he can fully relax and focus on his people. He has also met other dogs at the shelter and tends to do best with tolerant female dogs. As always, any resident dogs should meet him before adoption to ensure a good fit.
If you're looking for a loyal companion with excellent house manners, a heart full of love, and the perfect mix of relaxation and playful charm, Timon may be exactly the dog you've been searching for. His foster describes him as incredibly affectionate, wonderfully goofy, and the kind of dog who simply wants to be close to the people he loves.
Timon is currently enjoying the comforts of foster care while he waits for his forever home. If you're interested in meeting this sweet, snuggly gentleman, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps.
