Meet Daisy Green, a sweet, wiggly girl who truly lives up to her "good girl" reputation. This 73-pound sweetheart has a wonderful balance of relaxed companionship and big bursts of playful energy, and she has continued to blossom in her foster home. Daisy is very relaxed around the house and spends much of her day happily snoozing in her designated area, but every so often those sleepy moments are interrupted by a burst of classic Daisy zoomies!
Daisy has plenty of personality and loves having fun. Stuffed toys are a favorite, although she tends to make pretty quick work of them! She also enjoys fetch, tug, zooming around the yard, and generally finding ways to entertain herself. Her foster describes her as a fairly lazy girl overall with occasional, enthusiastic bursts of energy. Once she's gotten that energy out, she's happy to settle down and relax nearby.
She is also a smart, treat-motivated girl who knows "sit" and has previously demonstrated a nice ability to listen to her people. Daisy learns quickly and seems to know when she has made a mistake, immediately realizing that she shouldn't have done something. She will benefit from continued positive reinforcement and consistent guidance as she works on some of her more enthusiastic behaviors.
Daisy is doing well with her household manners. She is very well housetrained and has been doing great when left alone. She is relaxed and comfortable in the home and has not shown any new stress behaviors. She is the kind of dog who can happily spend much of the day lounging around, making her a nice companion for someone who enjoys a dog who can relax when it's time to relax.
When it comes to people, Daisy absolutely loves them! She has a house full of teenagers coming and going in her foster home and has been wonderful with everyone. She is very happy to see people and enjoys being around them. Daisy can get extremely excited about greetings, however, and her enthusiasm is still a work in progress. She may jump or pounce when invited up, sometimes forgetting that she is a 73-pound dog who thinks she might actually be a lap dog! Her foster family has been working on helping her settle before greetings, and she will need continued practice and consistency in her forever home.
Daisy enjoys being near her people, although she isn't necessarily a big-time snuggler. She is happy to hang out close by and be part of whatever is happening. She also appreciates having her own space and is perfectly content to relax independently. That combination of affection and independence makes her an easygoing companion who doesn't need constant physical attention to be happy.
Daisy has experience meeting and interacting with other dogs, and she has previously enjoyed canine playmates. Her foster is interested in giving her more opportunities for positive socialization, and Daisy may benefit from continued structured introductions with appropriate dog friends. Because her interactions with other dogs should be thoughtfully managed, she will need to meet any resident dogs to make sure everyone is comfortable and a good match. BARCS social sessions may also be an option for her.
Daisy is also very curious about the other animals she encounters. She currently lives with a lizard, and while she is definitely interested whenever he comes out to visit, she respects his space and does not bother him. Her experience with other species should still be considered on an individual basis, with appropriate supervision and introductions.
Daisy is still working on her leash skills, particularly after a few days without a walk. She may pull at first, but she responds well to reminders and corrects quickly. Her biggest challenge is that she gets very excited when she sees people because she wants to greet and play with everyone! Continued practice will help her learn that she doesn't have to say hello to every person she sees.
Daisy Green is looking for a forever home that will appreciate her sweet personality while continuing to help her work on polite greetings and leash manners. She would love a family who can provide structure, consistency, daily exercise, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to use up those occasional zoomies before settling in for a long, comfortable nap. In return, you'll get a goofy, affectionate, people-loving girl who is wonderfully relaxed at home and always ready to bring some personality to your day.
