Meet Cece! This gorgeous 5-year-old brindle beauty is ready to bring some sunshine into your life. At 53 pounds, she's the perfect medium-sized companion with an even bigger personality. Friendly, engaging, and endlessly affectionate, Cece absolutely loves spending time with her people. Whether she's soaking up attention, showing off her good manners, or melting into a back scratch with a contented sigh, she's happiest when she's by the side of someone she loves.

Cece is thriving in her foster home and has settled into a wonderful routine. She is reliably housetrained, crate trained, and rests comfortably in her crate when left alone. More than anything, Cece simply loves being included in everyday life and is always excited to reunite with her family after they've been apart.

One of Cece's favorite things in the world is meeting people. She recently attended a kickball game with her foster's coworkers and absolutely charmed everyone she met. Although she greeted a few people with some excited jumping and gentle mouthing at first, she settled quickly and happily accepted pets, treats, and attention from 10 to 15 different adults. She also met a calm, sweet three-year-old girl and did wonderfully, responding especially well to the child's quiet energy. In her foster home, Cece lives with a young child and continues to learn how to regulate her excitement with the help of a consistent routine, enrichment, exercise, and positive reinforcement. Her foster has seen wonderful progress, with longer stretches of calm and better self-control every week.

Cece has also proven to be a respectful companion around cats. She continues to do very well with the resident cat in her foster home, showing curiosity without becoming fixated and easily redirecting when asked to give the cat space.

Walks have become one of Cece's favorite ways to spend time with her people. She has made excellent progress on leash and now recovers much more quickly after noticing other dogs. While she may still show some initial interest, she's learning to move on without much encouragement, making neighborhood walks increasingly enjoyable. Even more impressive, Cece has proven to be remarkably uninterested in wildlife, calmly ignoring squirrels, rabbits, foxes, and even deer as she explores parks and trails. She's been proudly sporting her "Adopt Me" vest on outings around the community, giving even more people the chance to see what a wonderful companion she is.

When it comes to living with other dogs, Cece continues to make progress but appreciates thoughtful introductions. She can become overwhelmed by overly enthusiastic greetings, so she would like to meet any resident dogs before adoption to ensure a good match. She may also be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all of her family's love and attention.

Cece is a smart, food-motivated girl who genuinely enjoys learning. She already knows "sit" and "come" and continues practicing "down," "wait," "relax," and "bed," responding beautifully to positive reinforcement. She loves training sessions because they mean treats, praise, and quality time with her favorite people. Stuffed Kongs, snuffle mats, puzzle toys, and other enrichment activities are also high on her list of favorites.

Cece has enjoyed several Dogs Day Out adventures, adoption outings, community events, and plenty of walks through local parks and trails. Whether she's exploring a new place, strolling through the neighborhood, or curling up at home after a fun day, she's happiest when she's sharing life with her people. Her medium energy level makes her a wonderful companion who's equally happy heading out on an adventure or relaxing together after a busy day.

If you're looking for an affectionate, intelligent companion who will happily join you on outings, continue learning alongside you, and curl up for snuggles at the end of the day, Cece could be your perfect match.

Cece is currently thriving in a foster home while she waits for her forever family. If you're interested in meeting her, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family.

I'm a VIP because I'm still learning, and the shelter can be a tough place for dogs like me to shine. But I've got a whole team cheering me on!

Here are a few things the staff and volunteers are helping me with:
· Feeling less stressed/fearful in my kennel
· Learning to make the right dog friends at the right pace
· Practicing calm behavior behind my kennel.
· Keeping my paws on the ground and learning polite ways to show I'm excited

If you're patient and open-hearted, I could be your best friend. I'm available for adoption! During the adoption process, a staff member can walk you through what's been working for me and how you can keep the progress going at home.
