Meet Vesper - a joyful, affectionate girl with a heart as big as her personality. Since arriving at BARCS as a stray, Vesper has quickly become known for her loving nature, playful energy, and ability to brighten every room she enters. She greets life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and endless affection, whether she's leaning against you for pets, curling up beside you for snuggles, or handing out kisses complete with adorable little piggy snorts.

Vesper is ready to find a family of her own and has been winning hearts everywhere she goes on her Dogs Day Out adventures. This happy girl has explored parks, visited local spots like Checkerspot and Rita's for a pup cup, and proven herself to be a wonderful companion along the way.

Vesper loves getting out and about, whether she's enjoying a hike through the park or riding along for a car adventure. One of her favorite things is snuggling up during car rides, and volunteers consistently describe her as great in the car. She's also a big fan of attention and is happiest when she's spending time with her people. If you have a lap available, Vesper would be more than happy to claim it for cuddles.

While she may start out a little excited, Vesper settles in nicely once she connects with her person. She's very food motivated, making her eager to engage and a great candidate for continued training and enrichment.

Whether you're looking for a hiking buddy, a road trip companion, or a snuggle partner for quiet evenings at home, Vesper is ready to fill that role. She's already shown she can thrive outside the shelter and would love the chance to continue her adventures with a forever family by her side.

One of Vesper's favorite things in the world is simply being near her people. In her foster home, she has blossomed into a true cuddle bug who thrives on human connection and companionship. She loves meeting new people and wins over just about everyone she encounters. Whether it's family members, guests, or strangers out and about, Vesper approaches life with friendliness and excitement. She's happiest when she can follow her humans from room to room, supervise daily activities, and settle close by for affection and attention.

Vesper is also packed with playful charm and puppy-like enthusiasm. She loves zooming around the yard, tossing toys in the air, playing with stuffies and balls, working on enrichment puzzles, and soaking up the sunshine outdoors. She enjoys hiking adventures and has had a great time on dog's day out adventures with volunteers, where she has gone shopping at Second Chance and hung out on the patio at a few breweries. She did well in the car and was an enthusiastic adventure partner. She has had positive experiences meeting dog friends through BARCS training outings. While she has a higher energy level, she also has a wonderfully affectionate side and loves winding down by snuggling close to her favorite people.

She's a smart, highly trainable girl who genuinely enjoys engaging with her humans. Vesper is currently working on skills like loose leash walking, settling, and "place," and she responds very well to treats, praise, and redirection. Her leash manners continue improving, and while excitement can sometimes bring back pulling behaviors, she redirects quickly and is showing great progress. She's especially successful staying calm around dogs who are calm and at a comfortable distance.

Like many young, energetic dogs, Vesper can occasionally get mischievous when bored or under-stimulated. She may counter surf, grab little household trinkets, or become mouthy during play when she's overly excited. Her foster has been redirecting these behaviors appropriately and increasing enrichment activities, which has helped tremendously. Vesper truly thrives with structure, activity, routine, and plenty of opportunities to use both her brain and body.

Vesper is continuing to work on housetraining and crate habits. While she does well avoiding accidents in the home itself, she still struggles with having accidents inside her crate regardless of the amount of time left alone. She will need a patient adopter willing to continue helping her build confidence and consistency with crate routines.

Vesper has met other dogs at BARCS and prefers gentle playmates. She requests to meet any resident dogs to ensure they're a good match.

At the core of everything, Vesper is simply a deeply loving dog who wants to be included in her people's lives. She is affectionate, goofy, social, playful, and incredibly devoted. Her ideal home will embrace both her energetic spirit and her soft, cuddly side while continuing the training and enrichment that help her thrive. Vesper has had several false starts while searching for her forever family, and her foster hopes the next one will finally be the perfect fit.

Vesper is currently in the comfort of a foster home. If you're interested in meeting her, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps!
