Meet Morticia, affectionately known as Izzy! This sweet 5-year-old, 50-pound girl came to BARCS as a stray, and her finder reported that she did well with children.
Izzy may pull a little when first heading outside, but she seems to simply be eager for a bathroom break. She takes care of all her business outdoors and may be house-trained. Once she settles in she is a real pleasure to walk-or perhaps "stroll" is a better word, because this easygoing lady likes to take her time and enjoy the journey. This smart girl knows "sit" and "paw!"
Izzy walks nicely on the leash, is easy to return to her kennel, and shows absolutely no reaction to the other dogs she sees while outside. She also enjoys a good chest rub and spending time with her person. Izzy is already altered and ready to head home today!
Izzy is a smart, social girl who is eager to learn and ready to find a family of her own. During a recent trip to Camden Yards for the Pete Alonso charity event, she confidently worked the crowd, happily greeting children, adults, and even the Oriole Bird!
Despite all the excitement around her, Morticia remained nonreactive to the other dogs at the event. She was happy to focus on her handler and showed off just how bright she is while practicing "sit," "come," and "stay." She even began learning "down."
Izzy would love an adopter who will continue helping her learn while including her in life's adventures. Whether she is meeting new friends, practicing her skills, or enjoying time with her favorite person, this sweet girl is ready to be someone's wonderful companion.
Izzy has met other dogs at the shelter, she is a playful girl!
