Meet Meatloaf, a lovable, goofy sweetheart who is coming into his own more every day! This handsome boy has settled beautifully into his foster home and is proving to be an affectionate, easygoing companion who loves his people just as much as he loves finding a comfy pillow to lounge on.
Meatloaf is doing wonderfully in the house. He is fully housetrained and hasn't had an accident in quite some time. When his foster is away, he happily snoozes until they return, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a dog who knows how to settle and relax. At home, Meaty loves being near his people and enjoys plenty of affection, but he's also perfectly content to curl up on his own.
He's also doing wonderfully with the three small dogs in his foster home. Everyone coexists very well, and Meatloaf and resident dog Dixie have developed their own special way of playing together. Whether they're playing or simply relaxing in the same room, Meatloaf is comfortable sharing his space with his canine roommates. He's a sweet, social guy who clearly enjoys having dog friends around.
Meatloaf is also cat friendly! He's been gentle and comfortable around the cat in his foster home and is happy to peacefully share his space with his furry roommates. He's the kind of dog who seems happiest when everyone is simply hanging out together. His foster recently noticed how sweetly Meatloaf and the resident dogs gathered around her mom when she wasn't feeling well, wanting to stay close and keep her company.
On walks, Meatloaf continues to make progress, and his foster is intentionally taking different neighborhood routes and going out at different times to help him become more comfortable with new experiences. He's becoming more interested in people he sees on walks and may pull or jump when he wants to say hello. If someone is walking behind him, he can sometimes become reluctant to keep moving. He's had relatively few reactions to other dogs this week, which is encouraging progress.
Meatloaf is still learning how to feel comfortable in more stimulating environments, and his foster is giving him the time and support he needs to build confidence. Rather than rushing him into busy situations, they're focusing on positive-reinforcement training and helping him stay engaged with his person. He'll benefit from an adopter who understands that progress takes time and is willing to continue helping him navigate the world at a pace where he can be successful.
This sweet boy has plenty of wonderful qualities to balance out the areas he's still working on. He's affectionate, housetrained, comfortable with dogs and cats, and knows how to settle when his people are away. He's also learning new things and recently added "paw" to his repertoire! His favorite activities include chewing on bones, playing with stuffy toys, lounging on pillows, and, of course, getting plenty of snuggles from his people.
Meatloaf's energy level is generally low to medium, making him a great match for someone who enjoys a dog who can appreciate both activity and downtime. He loves being part of the household but doesn't need to be entertained every minute of the day. Once he's comfortable, he's happy to relax near his people and enjoy the simple things in life.
Meatloaf is a wonderful dog who is continuing to grow in confidence with every new experience. His foster is intentionally focusing on his training before bringing him to another adoption event, giving him the opportunity to build more comfort and confidence around strangers and in stimulating environments. With patience, positive reinforcement, and an adopter willing to keep working with him, Meatloaf has so much potential to continue blossoming into the confident companion we know he can be.
