Meet Bayfield (Bella)! This sweet senior lady is 7 years old and 62 pounds of love. Age is just a number, and Bella is proof! She is a soft-hearted, gentle lady who seems happy just being wherever her people are. She enjoys trotting along on walks, eating treats, and hanging out with friends of all ages! Bella has a calm, easygoing presence and enjoys heading out for a leisurely stroll with her friends. She walks nicely on leash and is a lovely companion to spend time with.
Bella can be shy at first with new people, but give her some patience and let her move at her own pace, and you'll be rewarded with her sweet, affectionate side. Once she decides you're a friend, she'll lean right in for cuddles and soak up the attention.
Bella spent some time in a temporary foster home, and she thrived! This lower energy gal enjoys a short walk, nap time & most of all, cuddles with her people! Bella sleeps soundly through the night with no accidents. She is polite around the house and doesn't explore anything that isn't for her.
She is an affectionate cuddle-bug, and is happiest when nearby her people - snuggling or napping nearby. She would make a wonderful work from home companion and a good candidate for small spaces!) she walks nicely on a leash and is non-reactive. It took Bella a day to settle into foster and her new walking route, but she's now right by her person's side with very, very little pulling at all. She has nice manners!
Bella is able to be crated (overnight and during the day as needed), but she prefers a little more space to feel 100% comfortable. The sofa + a comfy dog bed are her favorite spots to relax or nap.
On a Dog's Day Out with a volunteer, Bella started her adventure by thoroughly exploring the entire house... twice! Then they headed out for a brisk walk through the neighborhood before she settled in for a long nap and plenty of cuddles. Bella was non reactive when she glimpsed the resident cats. This is a positive sign that she may possibly do well in a home with cats after a slow, proper acclimation period.
They finished the day with a trip for a pup cup, which was obviously a very important part of the itinerary!
One of the best things about Bella is just how easy she is to have around. She seems like the kind of dog who could fit into so many different lives, whether that's with a single person looking for a companion, a couple, or a family. She's happy to head out for a walk and explore, but she's equally content curling up for a nap and some affection.
Gentle dog pals are preferred for Bella. She may want to meet any dog friends prior to adoption to ensure they are a good match. In foster, Bella politely walked parallel with her doggie housemate. During a Dog's Day Out with a volunteer, she met a cat without any issues. This suggests she may do well in a home with cats if a slow acclimation period is followed.
At seven years young, Bella has plenty of fun left in her, but she also has that wonderful grown-up-dog ability to settle down and simply enjoy being with you. She's gentle, loving, easygoing, and incredibly sweet. Bella is a soft-hearted lady who deserves a soft place to land. Bella would love a patient adopter who understands that the best relationships sometimes take a little time to build. She's already altered and ready to leave the shelter and head home today!
