Meet Acorn, affectionately known as Yoshi, a sweet, affectionate girl who came to BARCS through no fault of her own and is quickly showing her foster family what a wonderful companion she can be. She's one of those dogs who seems to have a natural talent for making herself at home. Acorn has a wonderfully relaxed personality, enjoys being near her people, and is happiest when she can settle in somewhere comfortable with her favorite humans nearby.
Life in foster has shown that Acorn is incredibly easy to live with. She is completely housebroken and has been wonderful when left alone. She doesn't destroy anything, stays quiet while her foster is away, and simply waits by the door for them to return. She can also be crated when needed. Although she was initially reluctant to go into her crate, she settled quietly once inside. She's even so devoted to her people that she saves her treats for when they come home!
Acorn has a wonderfully low-key energy level and is perfectly content to lounge around the house. She enjoys relaxing on the floor near her people and is definitely a fan of snuggles and affection. Her foster describes her as one of the sweetest dogs they've ever had, and it's easy to see why. Acorn loves being close to her people, happily accepts affection, and is always ready to offer some kisses in return.
She's also a smart girl who is eager to engage with her person, especially when treats are involved. Acorn knows "sit," "down," and "wait," and she's even mastered some adorable spins. She enjoys having something to do and will happily participate when her person makes training fun. She's also discovered that some household objects can be particularly entertaining to destroy, although her interest in toys tends to be fairly short-lived-so a good selection of appropriate chews and enrichment will help keep her happily occupied.
Acorn has been wonderful meeting new people in her foster home. She may take a little time to feel completely comfortable with a friendly stranger, but once she does, she's happy to accept pets and attention. She has also previously interacted positively with children ages 8 and older. Her gentle, affectionate nature makes her a lovely companion for a family who will continue to give her the time and space she needs to settle in.
Acorn has experience around other dogs and has done well with socially savvy male dogs. She has also been non-reactive around other dogs and community cats while out and about. Her foster home does not currently have any other pets, so she hasn't had the opportunity for a longer-term introduction to resident animals. She may do best with a polite, socially appropriate male canine companion, and she may need to meet any potential doggie roommates to make sure everyone is comfortable together.
Acorn is a wonderfully easygoing girl who enjoys being around her people without needing constant entertainment. Her foster family has found her to be quiet, well-mannered, affectionate, and incredibly sweet. Whether she's lounging nearby, practicing her commands, enjoying some attention, or simply waiting patiently for her people to come home, Acorn has a way of making herself an easy and lovable part of the household.
