Mambo is nervous about being at the shelter, but every time I walked by his kennel with another dog, he wagged his tail and greeted each one. When it was his turn to come out, he sat down to be leashed and walked nicely to the interaction pen. He saw a ball and immediately picked it up. That was a good sign that he liked playing fetch, and he does. The turf was too hot for that, so we played catch in the shade. He's a master of catch, and it made him happy when I praised him. Mambo also comes when called and knows how to sit and lie down. He's a smart boy with skills. His former owners said he loves other dogs and did well in doggy day care. He's scared of kids and new people but isn't aggressive. They said he needs time to feel comfortable and then he's great. He doesn't do well with cats, and if he's left alone at home, he needs to have the blinds/curtains open and then he's okay. I really liked Mambo and could see that he needs time to trust. Playing catch seemed to help ease his worries, and he even accepted some pets from me. He's a good boy.
