Update: Fester has completed his training with Project Homebound - Athens, GA and is back at the shelter ready for his forever home. He's a great dog and well-rounded boy who enjoys being with people and knows commands like sit, lie down, and come and LOVES playing fetch. He can also entertain himself with a chew toy or have fun rolling in the grass. Even if he's relaxing, he'll hop up quickly to fetch any toy that I throw. He's back in the game and so much fun!

Update: I haven't seen Fester for a while because he's training in Project Homebound - Athens, GA, the jail dog program. He's doing great learning new skills, and he looks much better, too! When I first met Fester, he only weighed 39 pounds, but now he's gained 15 pounds. He's a sweet, well-behaved boy, and we had fun playing with toys and practicing skills like sit and lie down.

Fester was happy to join me outside. He's a friendly guy and LOVES treats. He'd sit for them, but we also played a game in which I'd toss one, and he'd run to get it and come back to do it again. I replaced the treats with a toy, and he liked running for that, too, as long as he was rewarded for bringing it back. Fester hasn't had the best care and is missing some fur. He also has heartworms, so once his stray hold ends, he'll only be available to rescue, foster, or foster to adopt. After treatment, (Update: he's been treated!) he'll also be available for adoption. Fester is a nice dog and fun buddy.
