Foster update: Meet Duke! I am enjoying fostering him, a 5 year old sweet fixed dog (possibly Black Mouthed Cur, like Old Yeller)He charms people and is a very funny guy. He's quite handsome - I call him the Jon Hamm of dogs.
Duke is very respectful to my small terrier mix, an 11 yr old female who's a little set in her ways. She'll miss him but will enjoy ruling the roost again.
Duke can get excited about seeing you, but he is basically a pretty chill guy. He does love to run around with a toy - the nonstuffed ones are better for him, as he can annihilate the stuffed ones quickly. He doesn't swallow the stuffing or fabric, so no fears there.
He is crate trained dog door trained, and I'm working on more with him. We almost have "sit" covered - as well as "stay". He does love being petted and scratched and brushed.

Update: Duke sits quietly in his kennel hoping that someone will take him out. He's an easy-going boy who at first entertains himself with toys or exploring and then is ready to be with a friend. Treats are okay and pets are nice. He's a sweet dog who's not demanding at all but appreciates attention and would love a new home. Since Duke has heartworms, he's only available to foster, foster-to-adopt, or rescue. Once he's treated for heartworms, he'll also be available for adoption.

Duke enjoyed having some time outdoors and chased and played with a few toys. He seems to be submissive and at first crouched down when I reached to pet him. It didn't take long, however, for him to trust me and was soon wagging his tail whenever I pet him or gave him scratches. He's a sweet dog, and the person who found him said he's wonderful.
