Foster update: Two weeks with LuLu, and what a journey it's been! She's slowly starting to open up. While she's still very skittish, she adores my in-laws' Doberman, and as of now, I'm officially her human-and I'm totally okay with that. She's so sweet, and it's been amazing to see her begin to trust me.
LuLu doesn't know any commands yet, and teaching her is a challenge since she's still so nervous. For now, we're focusing on just one thing: getting her to come to her name. We've also been giving her a taste of freedom by letting her off-leash in the backyard (fully fenced, of course, and always under supervision). She LOVES it. Considering she spent the last four years living outdoors, this small step is huge for her.
It's incredible how far she's come in just two weeks.
Flashback to when she first arrived: LuLu was completely shut down, unable to function. I had to physically carry her outside to go potty because her tail was so tightly tucked between her legs that she'd accidentally go on herself. She'd hide from everyone and wouldn't move without a leash. My heart broke for this sweet girl who had clearly endured so much.
Now, she's slowly learning that not all humans will hurt her. She's finding love, safety, and kindness here-one step at a time.
