Duke - Adoptable

Hello everyone, I'm Duke.

I am a 6.8kg, male Terrier mix who is approximately one and half years old. I have been at the Manor for several months now. While in care I have received all the medical attention a little one like me deserves. I am neutered. I have had a dental. I am up to date on my vaccines, and I have even had a few nasty dermoid cysts removed that were bothering me since birth. You would think after all that wonderful care that I would just love going to the vet. Well that would be a no, I am still a little nervous, but not aggressive. I might have a little accident while I'm there, but when we leave it is all behind me (??)

Now that I am in tip top shape I am ready to search for my happily ever after. When I first came into care I was very nervous. When I arrived at my foster home, I saw that there were already other pups like me, I felt a bit more relaxed. They were just my size, and I was happy to see them. I was also curious about "those people". The dogs that were already here didn't have a problem with them, so I gave "those people' a chance. "Those people" were quiet, calm, and gave me space. Turns out I like people, I like them a lot, I just need time to feel comfortable. They even had a cat, and she's pretty cool too. Everything was going so well, I had dogs I like, and people I like, a big yard I like, life was grand. I had lots of yummy food and treats, I was gaining weight. I started to feel spunky and playful. I had some toys of my own, a ball I adore. I love playing with that ball in the yard, I can toss it in the air and run, I'm so happy. I snuggled with my people, watched sports with them. I would follow my peeps all day long. If they went out I was not destructive at all, I would wait, and be so, so happy when they returned. I would gently tug on their pants, to tell them how happy I was to see them, and how much I missed them. I sleep all night next to my peeps.
Then the visitors came. I don't really like visitors. I would retreat to my safe sleeping space. Some visitors seem to come more often than others, and those I have grown to tolerate. I would not consider them friends yet. Every time I meet them it gets a little bit better, but I prefer when it is just me and my people.
I have just begun to enjoy walking on a leash. I am a little unsure, but my excitement wins me over. I have great energy and a playful spirit. I may tense up when I see a strange person but my pack and I, we just continue walking, and I just follow their lead. I am also more comfortable in the car if my pack is all there. When travelling without my posse, I am much more comfortable in a crate.
I currently live in a quiet area, and have a yard with a privacy fence. I am not an excessive barker and if I hear a loud noises or a dog barking, I usually go back inside. I think a mellow neighborhood matches me best.
Could you be my new peeps? Do you have a tranquil home, without children and a small family? Are you low key and looking for love? If so, you will be rewarded with the brightest smile and the warmth of a great little pup, me, Dukey
