IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOME
SIZE:
19 lbs.
HOME TYPE:
House or Townhouse- Benito would not do well in a large and busy apartment building, as he is on the shy and nervous side.
CHILDREN:
No- Benito would do best in a calm and patient adult-only home or a home that contains near adult aged children (older teenagers) who have had previous dog experience.
CATS & SMALL ANIMALS:
Yes- Cats potentially compatible with slow proper introduction.
OTHER DOGS:
No - Benito has not done well with other dogs in our care.
ACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:
Moderate to High; will need daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation but enjoys some daily down time as well.
HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:
First time dog owner possible, as long as prepared to work on difficult behaviours such as nervousness, anxiety and touch sensitivity.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:
At least two in-person training session to work on socialization, basic training, manners, touch sensitivy and general anxiety.
HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:
Very human social once he is comfortable!
FAVOURITE THINGS:
Enjoys interacting with people and is food motivated.
