Jonesy may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for his sweet personality to shine through. Once he's comfortable, he's all about attention, cuddles, and of course-anything that involves food! Jonesy also has a silly, goofy side that really shines when he's playing with toys-he'll keep you smiling with his antics. He can sometimes be a bit pushy when he wants something, but with consistent training and guidance, he'll learn his manners and thrive. Jonesy would love to find a home where he can get plenty of love, patience, playtime, and maybe a few extra snacks along the way.

HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:
At least two in-person training sessions to work on socialization, basic training, barrier reactivity, pushy behaviours and manners.

HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:
Very human social. Jonesy is very sweet and loves people! He can be pushy when he wants attention but he is just one big puppy!

FAVOURITE THINGS:
Loves anything that involves food! Yes, that does mean training too!

FOSTER AND FIELD TRIP INSIDER INFO: (please note that dogs may behave different in foster's care than adopter's care and the following cannot be guaranteed)

HOUSE TRAINING:
We're actively working on house training! Most days go very well, with only occasional accidents. With consistency and routine, continued progress is expected. He's learning to signal when he needs to go out but still benefits from regular potty breaks, especially after meals or naps.

CAR MANNERS:
Car manners are still being worked on. He likes to move a lot and will need a seatbelt. He is learning to be less anxious in the car.

LEASH MANNERS / ON WALK MANNERS:
Excellent leash manners! He walks calmly and does not pull. He frequently checks in with his handler for guidance and responds well to cues. He naturally sits at stoplights or when we pause-an impressive behavior that shows how eager he is to please and how attentive he can be during walks.

CRATE TRAINING:
Crate training is in progress. He is comfortable going in and out of the crate and does not show fear or anxiety around it. However, So far, he's only been crated briefly, and has handled it well. Continued short sessions and positive reinforcement will help him build confidence in this area.

KNOWN TRAINING CUES:
Sit - Consistently responds to this cue.
Stay - In progress; he's beginning to understand the concept.
Down - Introduced and showing early signs of understanding.
Leave it - Also a work in progress; he's starting to grasp the cue but can be easily tempted if it's food-related!

HUMAN SOCIAL:
He absolutely loves people and thrives on human interaction. He's extremely curious, affectionate, and enjoys being close to his people. He forms bonds quickly and seeks out attention and affection, making him a delightful companion for someone looking for a social and people-oriented dog.

TOYS:
His interest in toys varies-he'll enjoy them when he's in the mood, especially if they involve interaction with his person. Puzzle toys or treat-dispensing toys may hold his attention longer due to his food drive.

FOOD & TREATS:
Very food motivated-this can be both a helpful training tool and something to be mindful of in the home. He is highly food-driven and will go to great lengths to get access to food. For example, he once pulled on a leash that was hanging on a hook six feet high-just to get to a bag of treats!
That said, his attachment to people can override even his love of food. For instance, no amount of pork chop could lure him away from the door when he was eager to go on a walk with his favorite person.
Important Note: Counters and surfaces should be kept clear of food, and food should be stored securely out of reach. He's clever and determined when it comes to snacks!
