Aloha! My name is Nani, just like Lilo's big sister! I'm a super sweet and affectionate girl who's still learning how to be brave in this big, wide world. Just like Stitch when he first landed on Earth, everything feels a little scary and unfamiliar right now. But the kind "ohana" (that's what the staff here are!) are helping me learn that it's okay to take things one step at a time. When I'm outside, I turn into a total goofball! Rolling around in the grass and snuggling up to the staff is my favorite thing ever. I'm always trying to wiggle into their laps or flop over with my tummy up, hoping for some well-deserved belly rubs.

I'm dreaming of finding my own quiet little "ohana", a home where I can feel safe, loved, and slowly build up my confidence. Like Lilo says, "Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." I can't wait to find mine!

***Nani has a discounted adoption fee to help them find their forever home! Please note that all applicants must still follow our standard adoption process and meet this pet's specific requirements in order to be approved for adoption***

IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOME

No - While in our car Nani has shown to have a prey drive

OTHER DOGS:
Yes- Dogs potentially compatible with slow proper introduction

High; will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.

HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:
First time dog owner possible as long as they are willing to work on difficult behaviours such as separation anxiety, reactivity and sound sensitivity.

Three in-person training sessions required to work on socialization, basic training, manners (jumpy/mouthy), sound sensitivity, reactivity, and separation anxiety.

HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:

FAVOURITE THINGS:
Getting all the love from people she is comfortable with and rolling around in the grass.

FOSTER AND FIELD TRIP INSIDER INFO: (please note that dogs may behave different in foster's care than adopter's care and the following cannot be guaranteed)

HOUSE TRAINING:
Housetraining as been going well! She was peeing/pooping in the house for the first 10-12 days or so, but since then there have been no accidents! However, Nani can be very stubborn.

CAR MANNERS:
Nani is getting really good in the car! She stays in the backseat for the most part and loves sticking her head out of the window to enjoy the breeze. From time to time, she feels the urge to put her paws on the center console to give kisses, her way of sharing some extra love during the ride.
In her new home, her owners should always make sure she is safely restrained during car rides to keep her secure and prevent any accidents.

LEASH MANNERS / ON WALK MANNERS:
Nani can walk really well. She can still sometimes pull though. Especially when Nani sees squirrels and rabbits, so she has a really strong prey drive for them.

CRATE TRAINING:
She is quiet in her crate. However she doesn't seem to like it too much. Rarely goes in there on her own free will.

KNOWN TRAINING CUES:
Knows sit, shake, down, working on leave it, working on stay, etc.

HUMAN SOCIAL:
She is very friendly. She still gets very excited and jumpy with strangers. Not so jumpy with me anymore. Nani loves to be loved, that's for sure. She will take as many pets as possible and she really loves her belly rubs!

TOYS:
She loves things she can chew on. She just wants to chew and chew and chew!

FOOD & TREATS:
Not so food driven. She eats all her food, but she takes her time throughout the evening.
