FOSTER AND FIELD TRIP INSIDER INFO: (please note that dogs may behave different in foster's care than adopter's care and the following cannot be guaranteed)

HOUSE TRAINING:
We are working on house training, but she will likely need additional training in her new home.

CAR MANNERS:
She is anxious in the car and wants to be right beside you or being held by you. She needs petting and talking to in order to stay calm.

LEASH MANNERS / ON WALK MANNERS:
She is very good on leash, keeps moving with me most of the time, will stop & sniff smells. She enjoyed walking/sniffing in the park before deep snow fell and she is not a fan of this cold weather but still have to take her for short walks.

CRATE TRAINING:
Ella is doing really well with crate training. The crate is only closed at night now and there is no whining or crying. I started out crating every time I left house but now she is calm when I leave the house for hours & will relax/snooze on the couch with the TV on (low volume).

KNOWN TRAINING CUES:
She only knows some training cues. We have been working on sit, down, come, etc and she mostly looks at me in confusion. Using hand gestures sometimes help and she is getting used to "go pee" and she will usually respond to me showing her the winter coat & leash or just run away.

HUMAN SOCIAL:
Ella is friendly and very affectionate. She is always happy to be with people (squirrels not so much). She loves to be loved.

TOYS:
Ella is more interested in people than in toys. I have also not observed her biting on furniture, couch covers, blankets or any destructive manners.

FOOD & TREATS:
Ella is very food motivated and will gooble up food in bowls twice a day very quickly. She loves small treats for training.

Note from volunteer who took Ella on a field trip:

Ella is super friendly, a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly. She loves cuddles and sitting on laps. She didn't seem interested in the cats in the home either. We had no challenges with her she is a lovely pup!
